“David Inquired of the Lord”

Blessings folk!

David was greatly distressed.
His wives were kidnapped.
His men’s wives and children were kidnapped.

They wept…

1Sa 30:4
Then David and the people who were with him lifted their voices and wept until there was no strength in them to weep.

But then, his men wanted to stone him.

David’s response is important.
He strengthened himself in the Lord.
Not in situation.
Not in circumstance.
In the Lord.

The Lord was his strength.

1 Samuel 30:6
Moreover David was greatly distressed because the people spoke of stoning him, for all the people were embittered, each one because of his sons and his daughters.
But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.

David wept and cried out to the Lord over the situation.
David strengthened himself in the Lord.

Watch what he does next…

1Sa 30:7-8
Then David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelech,
“Please bring me the ephod.” So Abiathar brought the ephod to David.

David inquired of the LORD, saying, “Shall I pursue this band? Shall I overtake them?”
And He said to him, “Pursue, for you will surely overtake them, and you will surely rescue all.”

David inquired of the Lord!

The Lord gave answer.
Purse!
You will overtake!
You will rescue all!

May we learn.

When troubled…
Cry out to the Lord.
Strengthen yourself in the Lord.
Inquire of the Lord.
Await the Lord!
