“My Eyes. My Ears…”

“My Eyes. My Ears…”

Blessings folk!

There is much more to the “If My people…” of 2 Chronicles 7:14 than most people have seen.

Why do we not know?

Because we usually hear teaching/preaching that does not provide context.
Teaching that just takes a verse…in the middle of a sentence…and speaks on it.

Alway seek the context.
Immediate context.
Greater context.
Context of the entirety of the Word.
Now, press on.

The Lord was not finished speaking to Solomon during the night…

2 Chron 7:15-16

“Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place.

“For now I have chosen and consecrated this house that My name may be there forever,
and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually.

God the Father is Spirit.
He does not have a body as we do.
(Jesus does have a body now…an interesting subject for another time.)
But, the Father does speak to us in anthropomorphic terms to help communicate the truth.
Anthropomorphic: ascribing human characteristics to non-human things (Merriam-Webster)

God is telling Solomon that…

  • He will see the prayer offered in this place
  • He will hear the prayer offered in this place
  • He has chosen this house
  • He has consecrated this house
  • His name would be forever there…in the house (that is interesting&hellipWinking
  • His eyes would be there - perpetually
  • His heart would be there - perpetually

This is what the Lord promised to do.
