Mat 4:5-6
Then the devil took Him into the holy city and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple,

and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written,
‘HE WILL COMMAND HIS ANGELS CONCERNING YOU’;
and
‘ON their HANDS THEY WILL BEAR YOU UP,
SO THAT YOU WILL NOT STRIKE YOUR FOOT AGAINST A STONE.’”

Jesus’ response?

Mat 4:7
Jesus said to him, “On the other hand, it is written,
‘YOU SHALL NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST.’”

Satan did not give up.

Mat 4:8-9
Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain
and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory;

and he said to Him, “All these things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me.”

Well there ya go.
That is the issue.
Satan wants the Lord Jesus to fall down before him and worship him.

Satan offered what he had…

• all the kingdoms of the world
• all the glory of the kingdoms
• all would be given to Jesus…if He bowed down.

Jhn 12:31
“Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.

Jhn 14:30
“I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming,
and he has nothing in Me;

Jhn 16:11
and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

Satan became ruler of the world when man abdicated his God-given role of dominion…back in Eden.

But, all is the Lord’s, even now.

Satan’s rule is but for a time.

God’s rule is forever and ever.

Jesus knew this.
So did satan.

Yet, Jesus did not get into this discussion with satan.

Jesus simply spoke the Word…again…

Mat 4:10
Then Jesus *said to him, “Go, Satan!
For it is written, ‘YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND SERVE HIM ONLY.’”

Jesus commanded satan to go - which he had to do…
Jesus then quoted the Word…worship and serve the Lord God.

Know the Word.
Speak the Word.
It sends the enemy fleeing.
