“The Gates”

Blessings Folk!

Today’s reading:

Matthew 7:13-14
Luke 13:22-30

Someone asked Jesus a simple question.
“Lord, are there just a few who are being saved?”

Was it a question of number?
Was it a question of requirement?

We gain insight from Jesus’ response.

I suspect they receive more of an answer than they anticipated.
I know I have.

Jesus tells us to strive to enter through the narrow door.
Many will seek to enter and will be unable.

Note the door will be shut.
There is an allotted time.

Then, those left out will cry…
“Lord, (really? Lord?...too late for that) open up to us!”
“We ate and drank in Your presence…”
“You taught in our streets”.

Jesus’ response?
“I do not know where you are from…
“Depart from Me, all you evildoers…
“In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth…

Jesus then tells the Jews that “they will come from the east and west and north and south and recline at the table of the Kingdom of God.”

The Gentiles will be a part of the Kingdom.

The last? First.
The first? Last.

Enter by the narrow door - the Lord Jesus. He leads to life.
The broad way is easy, comfortable, religious...it is the path of destruction.
