“Obey. Honor.”

Blessings folk!

Let us continue with the Lord’s instruction on how-to-walk-the-walk-we-talk.

We have seen that we as the Body are to give thanks in all things.
We as the Body are to honor and be subject to OneAnother.
Wives are to be subject to their husbands..
Husbands are to love their wives.

Now…

Eph 6:1-3

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER (which is the first commandment with a promise),

SO THAT IT MAY BE WELL WITH YOU, AND THAT YOU MAY LIVE LONG ON THE EARTH.

Children are to do two things.

  1. Obey their parents in the Lord
  2. Honor your father and mother

Why?

We obey because it is right.
That is simple!

We honor so that it may be well with us, that we may live long on the earth.

Note the Word gives us parenthetical insight…
This is a commandment…to honor.
This is the first commandment with a promise.

The promise?
That it may be well with you.
That you may live long on the earth.

We see it here…

Deu 5:16
‘Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you,
that your days may be prolonged and that it may go well with you on the land which the LORD your God gives you.

Here’s a question - is there an “age limit” for “children”?

Does a 65 year old child obey/honor the 85 year old parent?
