“Out Of Her Poverty”

Blessings folk!

Jesus warned about the Religionists.

Jesus did not stop there.

Mar 12:41-44

And He sat down opposite the treasury, and began observing how the people were putting money into the treasury; and many rich people were putting in large sums.

A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which amount to a cent.

Calling His disciples to Him, He said to them,
“Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the contributors to the treasury;

for they all put in out of their surplus, but she, out of her poverty,
put in all she owned, all she had to live on.”

Jesus was sitting opposite of the treasury (in the Temple area) observing.

He does observe how we use the resources with which He blesses.

Jesus called the disciples to attention.
He wanted them to see something.

The rich put in large sums.
They gave from their surplus.

A poor widow put in two small copper coins…worth a cent.
Out of her poverty she gave all she owned.
She gave all she had to live on.
She trusted in the Lord for provision.
The rich trusted in themselves.

The western church today is confused about “giving”.
We do not give as the Word instructs.
(We have covered this many times before.)

We should give as the widow did.
As the Lord instructs.
As each determines in his own heart.
Joyously.
Proportionally.
Without compulsion,
