“John…”

Blessings folk!

John the Baptist was an interesting person.

Mark gives some insight.

Watch how he is described.
Watch what he did.

Mar 1:6-8
John was clothed with camel’s hair and wore a leather belt around his waist,
and his diet was locusts and wild honey.

And he was preaching, and saying, “After me One is coming who is mightier than I,
and I am not fit to stoop down and untie the thong of His sandals.

“I baptized you with water; but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

John was quite the fashion statement.
Clothed with camel’s hair.
Belt about the waist.

He was not a smooth, slick man.

His diet was not refined.
Locusts - perhaps the insect, perhaps a plant…possibly referring to both?
Wild honey - think about that. Wild honey requires some serious determination to attain.
Bees do not like to give it up.

John preached.
He spoke of One coming after him.
One mightier than him.
One that John was not fit to stoop before…to untie the sandal.

John baptized the people who repented.
He baptized with water.
A personal sign that they had repented of sin.

But, John states that there is One that is coming that will baptize with the Holy Spirit.

The people responded.
The religionist responded.
Yet not is the same way…
