“I Have Sinned…”

“I Have Sinned…”

Blessings folk!

David had received the Word of the Lord via Nathan.

God would forgive.
But enemies would come against David.
Enemies from the Lord.
Enemies from David’s family.

What was David’s response?

2 Sa 12:13
Then David said to Nathan,
“I have sinned against the LORD.”
And Nathan said to David,
“The LORD also has taken away your sin; you shall not die.

David repented.
He acknowledged his sin when confronted about it.

Hope for us.

Nathan then declared the Word of the Lord to David.
The Lord had taken David’s sin away.
David would not die.

The Lord had mercy upon David.
According to the Law, David should have been punished by death.
Yet, the Lord had mercy upon David.

But…and this is a big but…the fruit of his sin would echo through his family, beginning immediately.

Listen to this sad word…

2 Sa 12:14
“However, because by this deed you have given occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born to you shall surely die.”

We learn something here.

David’s sin had given occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme the Lord.

The same occurs when we sin.
It gives the enemy opportunity.

One more thing was learned.

The child that Uriah’s wife carried would die.
David’s child would die.

Through no fault of his own, the child would die.
Due to David’s sin.

Humm…
A foreshadowing…
A typical picture…
Of that yet to come…

Through no fault of His own a child would die…another child of David…would offer Himself for all of mankind.

In the midst of mercy and misery we see the faint picture of mercy and grace.

Thank you Lord.

Oh yeah…Believers will meet this little son of David in eternity…
