“The Lord God…”

Blessings folk!

It is good to begin the new year with the goal of immersing oneself in the Word of God.

Here is a good resource to do so…
https://www.readscripture.org/

Psalm 119 is a simply amazing declaration of the wonder, glory and power of the Word of God.

It is looonnnggg… Happy
176 verses.
The longest Psalm.
The longest chapter in the Bible.

The verses are divided into “stanzas”.
Each stanza begins with the next letter in the Hebrew alphabet, an acrostic structure.
That is the reason that you will see a Hebrew word at the beginning of each stanza.

As we examine the Psalm, pay attention to the following:
  • What is revealed about God/His Word
  • What is revealed about man
  • What is the outcome of the Word

Let us read a stanza…

Psa 119:1-8

Aleph. (first letter in Hebrew alphabet)

How blessed are those whose way is blameless,
Who walk in the law of the LORD.

How blessed are those who observe His testimonies,
Who seek Him with all their heart.

They also do no unrighteousness;
They walk in His ways.

You have ordained Your precepts,
That we should keep them diligently.

Oh that my ways may be established
To keep Your statutes!

Then I shall not be ashamed
When I look upon all Your commandments.

I shall give thanks to You with uprightness of heart,
When I learn Your righteous judgments.

I shall keep Your statutes;
Do not forsake me utterly!

What has the Lord done?
He has a Law.
He is seek-able.
He has “ways” by which we are walk.
He has ordained precepts.
He has statutes.
He has commandments.
He is upright of heart.
He is righteous of judgment.

Meditate and reflect upon this.

Tomorrow we will look at the Psalmist/our response/etc.

Selah!
