“May It Be Done To Me…”

Blessings folk!

Gabriel is visiting Mary.
Gabriel is bringing a pronouncement…the conception and birth of a boy.

We continue…

 Luk 1:34-38

Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?”

The angel answered and said to her,
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you;
and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.

“And behold, even your relative Elizabeth has also conceived a son in her old age;
and she who was called barren is now in her sixth month.

“For nothing will be impossible with God.”

And Mary said,
“Behold, the bondslave of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word.”
And the angel departed from her.

Mary wondered.
Mary questioned.
She asked “how?”

She received an answer.

Note the detail:

  • The Holy Spirit will come upon you
  • The Power of the Most High will overshadow you
  • For this reason…the two above…the holy child shall be called the Son of God
  • Holy
  • Child
  • Son of God

Then some confirming detail:
  • Elizabeth was expecting - six months alone

Then, the great declaration - “for nothing will be impossible with God!”

Zacharias had questioned.
He was punished for unbelief.

Mary questioned.
She received an answer.

The difference?
The state of the heart.

Mary’s response?
“May it be done to me according to your Word”

Was that the moment of conception?
When she believed?

We do not know.

We do know she believed and it was so.

May we believe the Lord in all things.
