“Until I Know What God Will Do For Me”

Blessings folk!

David was hiding in the cave in Abdullam.
His brothers and family were with him.
Four hundred men also joined.
These men were discontented, in debt and in distress.

David knew that things were about to intensify.

He did not know what was to occur.
He knew that God had anointed him king.
He knew that his father-in-law Saul would not rest until he was dead.

David wanted to take care of something before anything else occurred…

1Sa 22:3-4
And David went from there to Mizpah of Moab;
and he said to the king of Moab,
“Please let my father and my mother come and stay with you
until I know what God will do for me.”

Then he left them with the king of Moab;
and they stayed with him all the time that David was in the stronghold.

David wanted to take care of his parents.
He wanted to provide for them.
He wanted to protect them.
He wanted them out of harm’s way.

The king of Moab agreed to help.
Why?
Perhaps the king knew that he and his kingdom would be “safe” as long as he had David’s parents?

Regardless, they stayed in Moab while David was in the stronghold…while he was fleeing…

Note, David was awaiting “what God will do for me.”
Not, “what God will do with me.”

David knew Who the Lord was.
David knew who he was in the Lord.
Now, he waited.

We experience the same.
May we aggressively await what the Lord will do for us.
