“They Sought…”

“They Sought…”

Blessings folk!

Jesus overturned the tables of the moneychangers in the Temple.

What do you think the religious rulers did?
What religious rulers always do when someone overturns the table of their structure.

Jesus had confronted them with what they had allowed.
The rulers had allowed the Temple to be a robber den of thieves rather than a house of prayer.

Mar 11:17
And He began to teach and say to them, “Is it not written, ‘MY HOUSE SHALL BE CALLED A HOUSE OF PRAYER FOR ALL THE NATIONS’? But you have made it a ROBBERS’ DEN.”

The leaders had allowed this.
The leaders had condoned this.
The leaders profited from this.

The same occurs today.

True Believers are the house of prayer.
Yet, our corporate gatherings are more a “house of entertainment” led by a master of ceremonies seeking to bring amusement.

“Muse” = to think upon, to reflect upon
“A-” = not!
“Amusement” = to think not, to reflect not…

Read what the leaders did upon this confrontation with truth…

Mar 11:18
The chief priests and the scribes heard this, and began seeking how to destroy Him; for they were afraid of Him, for the whole crowd was astonished at His teaching.

The leaders heard.
They knew what Jesus was saying.
They knew He was speaking to them.

They sought how to destroy Him.
Destroy?
Yes.
Destroy His teaching.
Destroy His reputation.
Ultimately, to destroy His life…to kill Him.

Why?
Fear.
They were afraid of Jesus.
They were afraid of His teaching.

Why?
Because the whole crowd was astonished at His teaching.

The crowd was not astonished at the teaching of the religious leaders.
The leaders had the truth, yet they were hypocrites.
The people knew,

Nothing has changed.

So many are hypocrites.
Worse, many are simply not saved.
They are not in “right relationship” with God.
Yes, they are very religious.
Yet, if they do not repent, they will spend eternity in the lake of fire.

Listen to the Truth of the Lord.
Know His Word.
