“Arrive, Build, Arrange, Bound”

Blessings folk!

Father had the flame.
Father had the fire.
Father had the destination.
Father had the purpose.

Son trusted.
Son carried the wood for the sacrifice.
Son believed the word of Father.
The Lord would provide for Himself a sacrifice.

A vivid picture for us.
A vivid picture of us.
God the Father.
We the son.

So, they walked together.
So should we.

They arrive…to the place God had told him.

Then…

Gen 22:9
Then they came to the place of which God had told him; and Abraham built the altar there and arranged the wood, and bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood.

Abraham built an altar.
Abraham arranged the wood.
Abraham bound his son Isaac.
Abraham laid Isaac on the altar, on top of the wood.

We can only glimpse the emotions of the moment.
We can only imagine the thoughts.

Underlying all is trust in the Word of the Lord.
God would provide for Himself a sacrifice.
If Isaac be the sacrifice, then God would raise him from the dead.
Remember, the fulfillment of the promise of decedents of Abraham would be through Isaac alone.
The Lord had said so.

Therefore, obedience in faith.

I believe Isaac could have fled.
If he was old enough to carry the wood, he was old enough of flee.

Yet, he…I believe by faith…submitted Himself to his father.
Another vivid typological foreshadowing of the Lord Jesus Himself.

By definition, the life of faith requires not knowing some things.
Faith is not taking the first step.
Faith is lifting the foot not knowing where it will land.

May we live by faith…as did Abraham.
