“The Sum of Your Word Is Truth”
Blessings folk!
The Psalmist is reaching conclusions related to the Word of God.
Repeatedly...and here again...he speaks of the nature of the Word of the Lord…
Psalm 119:157-160
158 I look at the faithless with disgust,
because they do not keep your commands.
159 Consider how I love your precepts!
Give me life according to your steadfast love.
160 The sum of your word is truth,
and every one of your righteous rules endures forever.
The Psalmist was disgusted by the faithless who did not keep the commands of the Lord.
Do we react that way?
Not hatred toward a person, rather disgust that they would forthrightly and cognitively decided to reject the commands of the Most High.
Then, the Psalmist ask the Lord to consider something.
Consider how he loved the precepts of the Lord.
Based upon that consideration, he then asked that life be granted unto him...according to the steadfast love of the Lord.
We can approach the Lord through and because of His Word.
Then, a profound summation…
“The sum of Your Word is Truth…”
All of the Word of the Lord is truth.
Not just a portion.
Not just the part we “like”.
All.
Often I wonder what part of “all” people do not understand…
Then…
“Everyone of Your righteous rules endures forever.”
The Lord’s rules are righteous.
They have to be.
He is Righteous.
They endure forever.
Live in them…through the Lord Jesus Christ.
Rejoice in them...through the Lord Jesus Christ.
Rest in the Truth that the Word of the Lord endures forever.
He is the Word.
