“Put Forth Your Hand…”

“Put Forth Your Hand…”

Blessings folk!

The satan - the accuser - was irritated.

God had asked him if he had “considered Job…”.

The satan was being revealed.
Of course he had “considered Job”.
He had tried to “get to him”.
How do we know?
Because the satan states “…have you not made a hedge about him..?”

Read to see what happens…

Job 1:8-11

The LORD said to Satan,
“Have you considered My servant Job?
For there is no one like him on the earth,
a blameless and upright man,
fearing God and turning away from evil.”

Then Satan answered the LORD, “Does Job fear God for nothing?

“Have You not made a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side?
You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.

“But put forth Your hand now and touch all that he has; he will surely curse You to Your face.”

The satan states that God had blessed the work of Job’s hands.
Job’s possessions increase in the land.
The inference is that Job was only blameless, upright fearing of God and rejector of evil because of “what he got from God.”

The satan challenges Job’s faith…and God.
The satan tells God to “put forth Your hand now and touch all that he has”, note again how nothing could touch Job without God’s permission.

The satan was convinced that Job would curse God…to His face.

Well, that is intense.

Not the “nice, cozy, fluffy, “cloud-based with angel scene” that is often associated with “heaven”.

How does God respond?
We will see.

How do we respond?
Do we trust the circumstance?
Do we trust the Lord?
