John 14:6-7
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life;
no one comes to the Father but through Me.

“If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also;
from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.”

The disciples response?
Phillip spoke up…

John 14:8
Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.”

Philip says “show us the Father”.
Jesus had already said “if you had known Me, you would have known My Father also.”

The disciples were grasping to understand what was being said.

What was hindering them?

Undoubtedly the profundity of what was happening, but, also something else.

I think Philip’s statement gives us some insight.
“It is enough for us”.

Enough for us?

What did he mean by this?

At least some, if not all, of the disciples were looking for something the Lord was not giving at the moment.

They were looking for an earthly kingdom.
They were looking for power.
They were looking for victory over the religious and political structures of the day.
They were looking…well…you get the idea.

Philip felt they would be satisfied “enough” if they saw Father.

Humorous if not so serious and fatal.

What satisfies you?
Who satisfies?
Anything other than the Most High God will fail.
