“You Are Mistaken…”

“You Are Mistaken…”

Blessings folk!

Let us look a little more at the Gospel and the power of God.

The organizational, religious church is totally powerless in relationship to the Holy Spirit.
They do have power within other spiritual forces.

This is nothing new.
Judaism of Jesus time upon earth was the same.
The religious rulers were far more interested in their power and position than in the Truth of Jesus.

Read this encounter.
Give close heed to the last verse…

Mat 22:23-29

On that day some Sadducees (who say there is no resurrection)
came to Jesus and questioned Him,

asking, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘IF A MAN DIES HAVING NO CHILDREN, HIS BROTHER AS NEXT OF KIN SHALL MARRY HIS WIFE, AND RAISE UP CHILDREN FOR HIS BROTHER.’

“Now there were seven brothers with us;
and the first married and died, and having no children left his wife to his brother;

so also the second, and the third, down to the seventh.

“Last of all, the woman died.

“In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife of the seven will she be?
For they all had married her.”

But Jesus answered and said to them,
“You are mistaken, not understanding the Scriptures nor the power of God.

The Pharisees had just failed in seeking to entrap/trip up Jesus.
Now the Sadducess tried.
You saw the hypothetical question that they hypocritically asked.
Why hypocritically?

They did not believe in heaven.
They did not believe in angels.
They did not believe in the afterlife.
They did not believe in a resurrection from the dead.
Basically modern day “liberals.”

The inquiry was cynical at its foundation.

Note their dripping sarcasm…”in the resurrection…” they did not believe it…”whose wife will she be”…perverted a practice of the Law of raising up seed unto a brother…”for they all had married her”…one translation says “they all had her”.

You can hear the condemnation in the wording.
The undertones are unmistakable.

Jesus’ response.
He gave an answer that speaks to all we are facing within the Body of Christ.

They were mistaken.
They did not understand Scripture.
They did not understand the power of God.

I am constantly amazed how the Body rejects the Word of God.
I see it regularly.
Church members ask questions.
They read Scripture.
Then discuss how they feel.
???
All the while refusing to see the very answer in front of them in the Word.

The church today rarely, if ever, considers the power of God.
We think that is for some by-gone days.

Wake up folk.

Understand the Scripture.
Understand the Power of God.
Times-a-wast’n.
