“Sweeter Than Honey”

Blessings folk!

We continue to the next stanza of Psalm 119.

Note the repetition of thought.
Repetition is the heart of mastering a matter.
Repetition implants truth in our soul.

How is the Word of the Lord described?
We have seen it before, many times.

What benefit did the Psalmist derived?
Does it apply to us?

Psa 119:97-104

Mem.
O how I love Your law!
It is my meditation all the day.

Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies,
For they are ever mine.

I have more insight than all my teachers,
For Your testimonies are my meditation.

I understand more than the aged,
Because I have observed Your precepts.

I have restrained my feet from every evil way,
That I may keep Your word.

I have not turned aside from Your ordinances,
For You Yourself have taught me.

How sweet are Your words to my taste!
Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

From Your precepts I get understanding;
Therefore I hate every false way.

The Word:

  • Your Law
  • Commandments
  • Testimonies
  • Precepts
  • Ordinances
  • Sweeter than honey

What did the Psalmist do?
What are we to do?
  • Love the Law of the Lord
  • Meditate upon the Word of the Lord all day
  • Observe the Lord’s precepts
  • Restrain our feet from every evil way
  • Keep His Word
  • Do not turn aside from His ordinances
  • Hate every false way

What does the Word of the Lord do for us?
  • Make wiser than enemies
  • Insight, more than all our teachers
  • Understanding, more than the aged
  • Taught by the Lord

The Lord will teach us.
His Word is ours forever.
If we receive…
If we learn…
Then wisdom, insight and understanding are to be had…to the praise of the glory of His grace.
