“Believe, Receive”

Blessings folk!

Too much of the “professing church” does not bear the fruit of the Lord.

The reason Is two-fold.

  1. Many who “profess” are not truly saved.
- They are “faithful”
- They do “good works”
- They are busy about their religion
- But, they are not in true relationship with the Lord
- They “believe”, yet have not believed, repented, confessed unto salvation

(2) Some are true believers, yet…
- They live as if they have a “spiritual fire insurance” policy
- They do not bear the fruit of the Kingdom
- They are saved, but are mere infants and have not matured

Only a mature/maturing tree can bear fruit.

Read again the account of Jesus and the fig tree.

The fig tree is a picture of Israel.
It looked good, yet had not fruit.
Even if “out of season”, there would have been a remnant.

Jesus is saying something here…

Mar 11:12-14

On the next day, when they had left Bethany, He became hungry.

Seeing at a distance a fig tree in leaf, He went to see if perhaps He would find anything on it; and when He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs.

He said to it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again!” And His disciples were listening.

Mat 21:18-22

Now in the morning, when He was returning to the city, He became hungry.

Seeing a lone fig tree by the road, He came to it and found nothing on it except leaves only; and He said to it, “No longer shall there ever be any fruit from you.”
And at once the fig tree withered.

Seeing this, the disciples were amazed and asked, “How did the fig tree wither all at once?”

And Jesus answered and said to them,
“Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt,
you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain,
‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it will happen.

“And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”

Jesus did not speak with malicious intent.

He was letting Israel know that no longer would there be fruit by righteousness of the Law.
The Old was passing away.
The New was coming.

Fruit from another tree.

The disciples were amazed.
How could a tree wither before their eyes?

Jesus told them…
Believe.
Have faith.
Do not doubt.

All things you ask in prayer…meaning that what you ask you are asking/receiving from the Lord…
Believing…
You will receive.

Do you ask in prayer?
Do you receive in prayer?
Do you believe?
Do you have faith?

Receive.
