“If I. If They. Then.”

“If I. If They. Then.”

Blessings folk!

Ah!

We have reach the point from whence we began.
Remember?
We were considering the famous passage 2 Chron 7:14 “…if My people…”
As in all things in the Word, it is important to know the context.
We now know a little more.

Read these verses.

Who is speaking?
Who is listening?
What is being said/communicated?
Why?

2 Chron 7:12-14

Then the LORD appeared to Solomon at night and said to him,
“I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice.

“If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain,
or if I command the locust to devour the land,
or if I send pestilence among My people,

and My people
who are called by My name
humble themselves
and pray
and seek My face
and turn from their wicked ways,
then I will hear from heaven,
will forgive their sin
and will heal their land.

Wow!

Think on this.

The Lord is speaking.

He tells Solomon “at night” (while awake? In a dream?) that he heard his prayer.

Then the Lord speaks a “if/then” statement.

If the Lord shuts up the heavens - which he would do…that is why Elijah could boldly speak.
If the Lord commands the locust to devour the land.
If the Lord sends pestilence among His people.

Why would the Lord do any of this?

Because the people would walk in disobedience.

What, then, were the people to do?
Humble themselves.
Pray.
Seek His face.
Turn from their wicked ways.

What will the Lord do?
Hear from heaven.
Forgive their sin.
Heal their land.

Sounds like the Word for our hour…
