2 Ch 20:6
and he said,
“O LORD, the God of our fathers, are You not God in the heavens?
And are You not ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations?
Power and might are in Your hand so that no one can stand against You.

Jehoshaphat continues…

2 Ch 20:7-9
“Did You not, O our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before Your people Israel and give it to the descendants of Abraham Your friend forever?

“They have lived in it, and have built You a sanctuary there for Your name, saying,

‘Should evil come upon us, the sword, or judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we will stand before this house and before You (for Your name is in this house) and cry to You in our distress, and You will hear and deliver us.’

Jehoshaphat was reminding the Lord (as if He needed reminding!) and the people (who always need reminding) what the Lord had done for them.

He had given them a land.
He drove out the inhabitants of the land.
He allowed them to live there.
They built a sanctuary there for His name.

In dedicating the sanctuary Solomon had declared that “should evil, sword, judgment, pestilence, famine” come against them, then they could stand before the house of the Lord and cry out in their distress.

The Lord would hear.
The Lord would deliver.

That is exactly what they were doing.
They were applying the Word of the Lord by crying out to the Lord.

His name was in that house.

Where is “His Name” today?
In “His House”…the body of true Believers.

Fear not!
Cry to the Lord.
He will hear.
He will deliver.
