“Walk Not As Fools…”

Blessings folk!

At the beginning of Ephesians 5 we saw that we are commanded to walk in love with OneAnother as Christ has loved us.

The balance of the chapter reveals elements of how to do such.

We press on.

Ephesians 5:15-17
15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

“See then…”
An instruction.
A commandment.
Something that we “control” and choose to do.

We are to see then that we walk circumspectly.
Circumspectly?
Yes. It means “careful”. We are to walk carefully.
This is not speaking of the actual act of walking...though it does us well to do that carefully also.
It speaks of walking in love and in the Spirit.

This portion of the Word tells us to walk in wisdom, to be not fools.

Why?
“Redeeming the time.”
In other words, times-a-wast’n.
There is not time for foolishness.
Time is not to be wasted upon that which is not of the Kingdom.

The days are evil.
Evil will increase.

We are not to be unwise.
We are to be wise.
We are to understand what the will of the Lord is.
Foolishness will blind us to the will of God.
