“The Lord Appeared…”

Blessings folk!

We continue examining Abraham.
Remember, we are taking a little side trip from Hebrews 11…the great gallery of those who lived by faith. We do well to see what the Word says about them.

Gen 18:1-5

Now the LORD appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre,
while he was sitting at the tent door in the heat of the day.

When he lifted up his eyes and looked, behold, three men were standing opposite him; and when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them and bowed himself to the earth,

and said, “My Lord, if now I have found favor in Your sight, please do not pass Your servant by.

“Please let a little water be brought and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree;

and I will bring a piece of bread, that you may refresh yourselves; after that you may go on, since you have visited your servant.” And they said, “So do, as you have said.”

The Lord appeared to Abraham.

How do we know?

Well, the Word states it forthrightly.
The Lord appeared.
Abraham saw Him.
Abraham bowed before Him.
Abraham calls Him “Lord”.
Abraham declares that he is the Lord’s servant.
Abraham acknowledges that he has found favor with the Lord.

We see Abraham humbling himself before the Lord.
We see Abraham exhibiting hospitality, pleading with the party to stay awhile.

The Lord and entourage agreed to stay.

We should live in like manner.
He is Lord.
True Believers are His servants.
We are to manifest hospitality.
