“Simeon”

Blessings folk!

Joseph and Mary had fulfilled the Law.
Jesus was circumcised.
Jesus was named.
The days of purification had begun.

Then, suddenly, a man appears.

Read carefully…

Luk 2:25-28

And there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him.

And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.

And he came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus,
to carry out for Him the custom of the Law,

then he took Him into his arms, and blessed God, and said,

Simeon.
A righteous man.
A devout man.
In Jerusalem.
A man who looked “for the consolation of Israel”…the Messiah…the Savior.
A man on whom was the Holy Spirit.

Think on this.
It often shocks current believers to learn that the Spirit came upon people prior to the time of the birth of the Lord…well before the pouring out of the Spirit we see in Acts 1.

The Spirit had revealed something to Simeon.
Simeon would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.

The Lord does this.
He informs.
He reveals.

Then, Simeon came in the Spirit into the Temple.
The Spirit led him.

When Jesus and His parents came to carry out the custom of the Law, Simeon took Jesus into his arms and blessed God.

He then spoke…which we will look at later.

For now, think on it.

The Spirit was upon Simeon.
The Spirit is within every true Believer.

The Spirit revealed things to Simeon.
The Spirit reveals to every true Believer.

The Spirit led Simeon to the Temple.
The Spirit leads us…if we allow.

Be of the Spirit.
Not of the flesh.

Be righteous.
Be devout.
Be faithful.
Be patient.
Be Spirit-Filled!
