“Three Days…”

Blessings folk!

Ezra made - still amazed by that word - the leading priests, Levites and all Israel take an oath.

Read what he does next…

Ezr 10:5-8

Then Ezra rose and made the leading priests, the Levites and all Israel, take oath that they would do according to this proposal; so they took the oath.

Then Ezra rose from before the house of God and went into the chamber of Jehohanan the son of Eliashib. Although he went there, he did not eat bread nor drink water,
for he was mourning over the unfaithfulness of the exiles.

They made a proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem to all the exiles,
that they should assemble at Jerusalem,

and that whoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the leaders and the elders, all his possessions should be forfeited and he himself excluded from the assembly of the exiles.

Ezra went to see Jehohanah - the high priest.
Ezra was still fasting and mourning.

They proclaimed together to all the exiles that all should assemble in Jerusalem.

They were serious.

The people were given three days to come.

The leadership had determined that if someone did not come, they would forfeit their possessions and be “excluded”/cast out from the assembly of the exiles.

This was very serious.
They were dealing with the sin.
They were correcting the evil.
They were “putting feet” to their vocal repentance.
