“Noah’s Response, God’s Response”

Blessings folk!

The Lord told Noah to depart from the Ark.
He did so.
He, his family and the animals.

What did Noah do next?

Gen 8:18-22

So Noah went out, and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him.

Every beast, every creeping thing, and every bird, everything that moves on the earth, went out by their families from the ark.

Then Noah built an altar to the LORD, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

The LORD smelled the soothing aroma; and the LORD said to Himself, “I will never again curse the ground on account of man, for the intent of man’s heart is evil from his youth; and I will never again destroy every living thing, as I have done.

“While the earth remains,
Seedtime and harvest,
And cold and heat,
And summer and winter,
And day and night
Shall not cease.”

Noah built an altar to the Lord.
He offered sacrifices.
Sacrifice required the death of something.
Ah, that now gives us insight into why the Lord had told Noah to bring seven of the clean animals, rather than two…

Gen 7:2

“You shall take with you of every clean animal by sevens, a male and his female; and of the animals that are not clean two, a male and his female;

The Lord was pleased.
The Lord smelled the soothing aroma of sacrifice.
The Lord declared to Himself that He never again curse the ground on account of man.
He would never destroy every living thing.

Then, we learn about the change of weather.
We now have “seasons” - summer, winter.
We now have cold, heat.
We now have seedtime and harvest.

Apparently the seasons did not exist prior to the flood.

The Lord changed creation drastically when Adam and Eve rebelled.
He changed more with the Flood.
The creation that we enjoy now is substantially different from the one the Lord created at the beginning.
The Lord has more to come…
