“My Beloved Son”

Blessings folk!

Jesus comes to be baptized by John.
John resisted stating that he had need to be baptized by Jesus.
Jesus tells him to suffer it so that all righteousness might be fulfilled.

Then…

Mar 1:9-11

In those days Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.

Immediately coming up out of the water, He saw the heavens opening,
and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him;

Mar 1:11
and a voice came out of the heavens: “You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.”

Upon “coming up out of the water”…a straight-forward statement that Jesus has been “in the water”. Likely baptized by immersion.

When Jesus came out, the heavens were opened.
That is an interesting statement…”the heavens were opened”
Which “heavens”?
Likely the third heaven, since the Spirit came…in the form of a dove.
The Spirit descended upon Jesus.

Then a Voice.
A Voice out of the heavens (another reason to think the third heaven).

The Voice of Father.
How do I know?
Because of what was said!

“You (Jesus) are My (Father) Beloved Son”.
“In You (Jesus) I (Father) am well-pleased”.

Jesus was obedient.
That was the reason He was baptized.
Father instructed.

Jesus’ obedience did not “make sense” to John…or perhaps to others.
But, to fulfill all righteousness He did what Father instructed.
So should we.
We must abide and obey.
Think not on how something “looks”.
Be obedient.
