"Marriage - Part 1"

Marriage...

Blessings Folk!

In light of the most recent federal court ruling related to “marriage” I thought we would spend some time examining the issue of marriage, “gay marriage”, “equal rights”, etc.

Be forewarned.

This is likely to be a mutually offensive time.

Most folk simply do not know what the Lord has to say about the elements of the issue - marriage, homosexuality, covenant, man’s law and the like.

All of this is important.

The Lord did not leave us without help.

We have the Word.
We have the Holy Spirit.
We have the Truth.

Gonna take it slow. Be certain to read each communique.

Today, I want you to think about something, then read a portion of Scripture...and reflect upon it.

Jesus spoke directly of issues that through the years, and especially today, have been divisive within the Body of Christ.

Jesus spoke of Noah.

Matthew 24:37
But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Jesus affirms the biblical account of Noah.

Jesus spoke of Jonah.

Matthew 12:38-40
38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.
39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Jesus affirms the biblical account of Jonah.

Jesus spoke of Daniel, describing him as a prophet.

Matthew 24:15
"Therefore when you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place ( let the reader understand),

Jesus affirmed Daniel as a prophet and his words as prophetic. (Contemporary, liberal “churches” today force Daniel into a different time period so as to make his writings that of history rather than prophecy.)

Jesus spoke of man and woman in the garden...created by God. (Read the passage giving special heed to the highlighted portion)

Matthew 19
 1 And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan;
2 And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.
3 The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?
4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,
5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

The highlighted portion is a quote from Genesis 1.
Jesus affirmed creation ex nihilo (out of nothing) by God.
Jesus affirmed that male and female were made.
Jesus affirmed that male and female shall be joined together in one flesh.

Not male joined with male or female with female.

But, I jump ahead.

Now, do not get ahead of me. Remember, there will be opportunities for all to be offended. Happy

Major portions of the professing church do not believe the biblical accounts of:

Noah
Jonah
Daniel
Creation as recounted in Genesis 1-3.

They reject the Truth of the Word, thereby giving the enemy ample opportunity for deception.

For today, just remember that Jesus dealt forthrightly with the difficult issues of the day… then and now.

Let us do likewise.

Blessings!
