Eph 6:5-8

Slaves,
be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh,
with fear and trembling,
in the sincerity of your heart,
as to Christ;

not by way of eye-service, as men-pleasers,
but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.

With good will render service, as to the Lord, and not to men,

knowing that whatever good thing each one does,
this he will receive back from the Lord,
whether slave or free.

Slaves, be obedient to your masters according to the flesh.
Slaves, be obedient with fear and trembling, in sincerity of your heart.
Slaves, be obedient as to Christ.

Slaves, do not be “obedient” as in “eye-service”…obedient only when someone is looking, etc.
Slaves, do not be “men-pleasers”, only doing what is right when men are looking, or for an agenda.

Rather, obedient as a slave of Christ.
From the heart.
Doing the will of God.

We are to render service with good will.
We are to do so as unto the Lord.
Not as to men.

This is a major thing.
This goes against our fleshly nature and patterns of society.

Slaves are to do so knowing that whatever good thing one does, he will receive back from the Lord.

Whether slave.
Whether free.
