“Be On You Guard”
Blessings folk!
Remember, the disciples had asked Jesus a couple of questions.
Mar 13:4
“Tell us, when will these things be,
and what will be the sign when all these things are going to be fulfilled?”
Jesus began to respond.
See to it that no one deceive you.
See to it that you are not frightened.
Jesus explained.
You will hear of wars and rumors of wars.
Nations (ethnicities) will rise against nations.
Kingdoms will rise against kingdoms.
This is only the beginning of birth pangs.
Jesus continues…
Mar 13:9
“But be on your guard;
for they will deliver you to the courts,
and you will be flogged in the synagogues,
and you will stand before governors and kings for My sake,
as a testimony to them.
Another commandment/instruction.
Be on your guard.
Mat 24:9
“Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you,
and you will be hated by all nations because of My name.
Luk 21:12
“But before all these things,
they will lay their hands on you and will persecute you,
delivering you to the synagogues and prisons,
bringing you before kings and governors for My name’s sake.
Reading just the Mark passage might lead us to think that this Word was limited to the disciples to whom Jesus was speaking.
The other gospels complete the account and show a greater application.
Those who are true believers will be delivered…
- To courts
- To flogging
- To secular powers…governors, king
- To tribulation
- To hatred
- To killing
- To persecution
But, there is more…that we will see later.
There is purpose.
There is reason.
Do you believe?
Are you prepared?
The life of the Kingdom is not what many paint it to be.
Know.
Be ready.
Be on your guard.
