“The Wild Ox”

Blessings folk!

The Lord asks another series questions of Job.
Questions with a wild ox as the basis.

Job 39:9-12

“Is the wild ox willing to serve you?
Will he spend the night at your manger?

Can you bind him in the furrow with ropes,
or will he harrow the valleys after you?

Will you depend on him because his strength is great,
and will you leave to him your labor?

Do you have faith in him that he will return your grain
and gather it to your threshing floor?

The unprovided response to the rhetorical questions is clear.

The Lord can/does all this.
Man does not.

The wild ox serves the Lord.
The Lord can bind him.
The Lord does not need the ox.

Man can do none of this.

In what does man have faith?
The strength of the ox…what he/man can do?
Or, in the Lord?
