"Wash All!"

“Wash All!”

Blessings folk!

So, Jesus tells Peter that if he does not allow Jesus’ washing, then he has no part of Him.

John 13:8
Peter *said to Him, “Never shall You wash my feet!”
Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.”

Peter’s reaction?

Peter was a man of strong emotions, strong reaction.
He was a man of passion.

John 13:9
Simon Peter *said to Him, “Lord, then wash not only my feet, but also my hands and my head.”

Peter was proclaiming “wash me from head to toe!”

He realized that he had been wrong in his feigned humility.

If the Lord seeks to do something in our lives, let Him do it.

Look at how the Lord responded.

John 13:10
Jesus *said to him, “He who has bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.

The picture is this.
Peter had no need to be washed “head-to-toe” because he had “bathed”.
He had believed the Lord.
He was righteous before the Lord.

Then why the washing of feet?
I believe that it is a picture of how the Believer needs to wash away the things of the world that we collect as we go about day by day.

Jesus was showing how we need to live humbly before one another.
I believe He was also showing how we are to help “wash the world” from each others “feet”.
In love.
In humility.
In care and comfort…pictured by the basin, the water, the cloth.
A careful, compassion process of being “clean” in our walk and life.
Done in the true community of faith.
Oh how we need such…
