Eph 4:11-13

And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers,

for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ;

until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.

Remember, the purpose is the equipping of the saints for the work of the service of the Kingdom, for the building up of the Body of Christ.

Now, the Lord gave some as prophets.

Prophets speak the Word of the Lord..
To “prophesy” means to speak forth the word.
Yes, there is a time when the Spirit leads one to prophesy something that has yet to occur, something in the future.
This is of the Lord.
There is also the prophesying of speaking forth the truth of the Lord.

An example.
When you tell someone “God loves you”, you are prophesying the truth to them.
The Lord desires for all Believers to prophesy…

1Co 14:5

Now I wish that you all spoke in tongues, but even more that you would prophesy; and greater is one who prophesies than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may receive edifying.

Speak forth the Truth.
Acknowledge that prophets are “for today”.
Has the Lord called/gifted you for such?
