Eph 5:28-30

So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies.
He who loves his own wife loves himself;

for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it,
just as Christ also does the church,

because we are members of His body.

Husbands are to love their wives as Christ loved the church.
Husbands are to love their wives as their own bodies.

No one hates his own body/flesh/self.
We nourish our bodies.
We cherish our bodies.
We take care of our bodies.

Some interesting nuances here.

The wife is part of the body of the husband.

How then should the husband love her?

Just as Christ loves the church.
Just as he loves his body.

Why?

Because we are one.
Husband/wife are one.
