The Word: Episode 1521 Luke 17:1-4

“You Will Hear. You Will Deliver.”

December 31, 2020

“You Will Hear. You Will Deliver.”

Blessings folk!

King Jehoshaphat and the people of the Lord were fasting.
An enemy was gathered against them.
They cried out to the Lord.

Jehoshaphat led.

Give close heed to what he said.
We have seen the first part…

2 Ch 20:6
and he said,
“O LORD, the God of our fathers, are You not God in the heavens?
And are You not ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations?
Power and might are in Your hand so that no one can stand against You.

Jehoshaphat continues…

2 Ch 20:7-9
“Did You not, O our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before Your people Israel and give it to the descendants of Abraham Your friend forever?

“They have lived in it, and have built You a sanctuary there for Your name, saying,

‘Should evil come upon us, the sword, or judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we will stand before this house and before You (for Your name is in this house) and cry to You in our distress, and You will hear and deliver us.’

Jehoshaphat was reminding the Lord (as if He needed reminding!) and the people (who always need reminding) what the Lord had done for them.

He had given them a land.
He drove out the inhabitants of the land.
He allowed them to live there.
They built a sanctuary there for His name.

In dedicating the sanctuary Solomon had declared that “should evil, sword, judgment, pestilence, famine” come against them, then they could stand before the house of the Lord and cry out in their distress.

The Lord would hear.
The Lord would deliver.

That is exactly what they were doing.
They were applying the Word of the Lord by crying out to the Lord.

His name was in that house.

Where is “His Name” today?
In “His House”…the body of true Believers.

Fear not!
Cry to the Lord.
He will hear.
He will deliver.

“O Lord!”

December 30, 2020

“O Lord!”

Blessings folk!

A unified enemy was gathering against Israel and King Jehoshaphat.

The King was fearful.

What did he do?
He turned his attention to the Lord.
He called for a fast throughout all Judah.
They all sought the help of the Lord.

Then, the king did something unusual…

2 Ch 20:5

Then Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem,
in the house of the LORD before the new court,

The King stood before the people.
They had assembled in the house of the Lord.

The King then did this…

2 Ch 20:6
and he said,
“O LORD, the God of our fathers, are You not God in the heavens?
And are You not ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations?
Power and might are in Your hand so that no one can stand against You.

The King prayed.
Before everyone.
In humility.

He declared that God was the God of their fathers.
He declared that God was the God in the heavens.
He declared that God was the ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations.
He declared that power and might are in God’s hands.
He declared that no one can stand against God.

Give heed.
Use this as a pattern of declaration when the enemy and fear come against you!

“Seek the Lord”

December 29, 2020

“Seek the Lord”

Blessings folk!

One of the most interesting accounts related to “fear/fear not” occurs with the people of the Lord and King Jehoshaphat.

Let us begin to look at it.

Note the situation.
Note the response of the King and the people.

2 Ch 20:1-4

Now it came about after this that the sons of Moab and the sons of Ammon,
together with some of the Meunites, came to make war against Jehoshaphat.

Then some came and reported to Jehoshaphat, saying, “A great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea, out of Aram and behold, they are in Hazazon-tamar (that is Engedi).”

Jehoshaphat was afraid and turned his attention to seek the LORD,
and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.

So Judah gathered together to seek help from the LORD;
they even came from all the cities of Judah to seek the LORD.

A great multitude of enemy came against Jehoshaphat.
His response?
He feared.
What did he do with the fear?
He turned his attention to the Lord.

Again, think on this.
He turned his attention to the Lord.

He sought the Lord.
He proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.

They all sought the Lord.

Notice, “seek the Lord” is repeated three times.

What is our response when fear comes against us?

Do we seek the Lord in faith?
Or…
Do we embrace the fear in the flesh?

Turn your attention to the Lord and seek Him.

“God Is With You!”

December 28, 2020

“God Is With You!”

Blessings folk!

Continuing from yesterday, let us look at the word of David to His son Solomon…

David had the plan for the temple…

1 Ch 28:11-12

Then David gave to his son Solomon the plan of the porch of the temple, its buildings, its storehouses, its upper rooms, its inner rooms and the room for the mercy seat;

and the plan of all that he had in mind, for the courts of the house of the LORD,
and for all the surrounding rooms, for the storehouses of the house of God and for the storehouses of the dedicated things;

David/the Lord continue with more detail…all he had in mind.

Then…

1 Ch 28:19

“All this,” said David, “the LORD made me understand in writing by His hand upon me,
all the details of this pattern.”

Wow.
The Lord had given David understanding as to how to build the Temple.
He gave Him this understanding by His hand upon David as David was writing.
All the detail.
All the pattern.

Now, Solomon had it and was to execute.

This was his work.

But again, David exhorts!

1 Ch 28:20

Then David said to his son Solomon,
“Be strong and courageous, and act;
do not fear nor be dismayed, for the LORD God, my God, is with you.
He will not fail you nor forsake you
until all the work for the service of the house of the LORD is finished.

Know that this truth is for us and that which the Lord is calling us to build - His Kingdom.

Be strong!
Be courageous.
Act!
Do not fear!
Do not be dismayed!

Why?

Because the Lord God is with us!
He will not fail us!
He will not forsake us!

Until all our work is done and we see Him face-to-face!

Selah!

“David’s Words to Solomon…”

December 27, 2020

“David’s Words to Solomon…”

Blessings folk!

The Lord has given us a work.

Learn from King David.

David was at the end of his life.
He was passing the throne to Solomon.

The Lord had chosen Solomon…

1 Ch 28:5
“Of all my sons (for the LORD has given me many sons),
He has chosen my son Solomon to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel.

David had wanted to build the Lord a Temple.
The Lord would not allow him to do so…

1 Ch 28:3
“But God said to me,
‘You shall not build a house for My name because you are a man of war and have shed blood.’

The Lord made this promise to David and Solomon…

1Ch 28:6-7
“He said to me, ‘Your son Solomon is the one who shall build My house and My courts;
for I have chosen him to be a son to Me, and I will be a father to him.

‘I will establish his kingdom forever if he resolutely performs My commandments and My ordinances, as is done now.’

David then speaks the following to Solomon…

1Ch 28:9-10

“As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a whole heart and a willing mind; for the LORD searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will let you find Him;
but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.

“Consider now, for the LORD has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary;
be courageous and act.”

We must do likewise…
Know God.
Serve Him with a whole heart
Serve Him with a willing mind

Know the Lord searches all hearts
Know the Lord understands every intent of our thoughts
Seek Him - He will let you find Him.
Forsake Him - He will reject you forever

Consider all this.
Be courageous
Act!

“Do Not Fear. You Will Prosper”

December 26, 2020

“Do Not Fear. You Will Prosper”

Blessings folk!

David was at the end of his life.
Hear a portion of the word that he spoke to Solomon - his son who would be come king.

1 Ch 22:11-13
“Now, my son, the LORD be with you that you may be successful,
and build the house of the LORD your God just as He has spoken concerning you.

“Only the LORD give you discretion and understanding,
and give you charge over Israel, so that you may keep the law of the LORD your God.

“Then you will prosper, if you are careful to observe the statutes and the ordinances which the LORD commanded Moses concerning Israel.
Be strong and courageous,
do not fear nor be dismayed.

Hear the Lord!
At the end of this year…
At the beginning of a new year…

We as Believers are called to “build the house of the Lord…”.
We individually are the house of the Lord.
We corporately are the house of the Lord.
Religious buildings and institutions are not houses of the Lord.

Let us seek to build in the Spirit the House of the Lord.
Let us do so as He has designed, as He leads.
The Lord will give discretion and understanding.

Be strong in doing so.
Be courageous.
Do not fear in the building.
Do not be dismayed in the building.

We will prosper in the Kingdom as we are careful to build His way.

“The Glory of the Lord”

December 25, 2020

“The Glory of the Lord”

Blessings folk!

They were working.
Quietly going about their responsibilities.
Perhaps they were the “dregs” of society…I use to thing so…
Perhaps there was much more to them…I’m thinking so now…
Perhaps they were both?

When suddenly fear came upon them?
What brought forth the fear?

The glory of the Lord!!

Luke 2:8-14

In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields
and keeping watch over their flock by night.

And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them,
and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened.

But the angel said to them,
“Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people;

for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

“This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

And suddenly there appeared with the angel
a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”

Do not fear when the glory of the Lord comes.
Do not fear in the actions of evil…even this morning there was a bombing in Nashville.
Pray for them, yet fear not!

Walk boldly in the glory of the Lord.
Manifest the Power and Presence of the Lord!
This what the world needs!

“They Were There…”

December 24, 2020

“They Were There…”

Blessings folk!

Luk 2:1-7

Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus,
that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth.

This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria.

And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city.

Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David,

in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child.

While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth.

And she gave birth to her firstborn son;
and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger,
because there was no room for them in the inn.

Think for a moment about how Mary must have felt

She knew what the Lord had done and was doing.

Still, as with all child-birth, there is apprehension, there is fear, there is concern.

There they were.
In a town not theirs.
In minimal habitation.

Yet, in the very Presence and Power of God.

What was the Lord birthing forth?
Salvation!

What is He birthing in our lives today?
Do not fear!

Fear the Lord…

December 23, 2020

Fear the Lord…

Blessings folk!

We saw previously that the imported people upon the land did not fear the Lord God.
The Lord therefore sent lions upon them.
Yep, lions.

What was the response of the people?

They sent word to their master, the King of Assyria…

2 Ki 17:26-28

So they spoke to the king of Assyria, saying,
“The nations whom you have carried away into exile in the cities of Samaria do not know the custom of the god of the land; so he has sent lions among them, and behold, they kill them because they do not know the custom of the god of the land.”

Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying,
“Take there one of the priests whom you carried away into exile and let him go and live there; and let him teach them the custom of the god of the land.”

So one of the priests whom they had carried away into exile from Samaria came and lived at Bethel, and taught them how they should fear the LORD.

The King of Assyria commanded that one of the captured priest be sent back.
He was to live there.
He was to teach them the “custom of the god of the land,”

The priest taught them how they should fear the Lord.

What is really interesting about this is the priest would have been from the northern kingdom - not a “real priest”.
The “Judiasm” of the northern kingdom was fraudulent and reprobate. It was not true faith.

Still, the priest knew they were to fear the Lord.
He taught them to do so.

All well?

What do you think?
We will see in the next verses…

“Lions!”

December 22, 2020

“Lions!”

Blessings folk!

What happens if one does not “fear the Lord”?

Here is an interesting account.

Assyria had conquered the Northern Kingdom of Israel.
As was the pattern of the day, the Assyrians then resettled other conquered peoples into the newly conquered land.

Note what happens…

2 Ki 17:24-26

The king of Assyria brought men from Babylon and from Cuthah and from Avva and from Hamath and Sepharvaim, and settled them in the cities of Samaria in place of the sons of Israel. So they possessed Samaria and lived in its cities.

At the beginning of their living there, they did not fear the LORD;
therefore the LORD sent lions among them which killed some of them.

So they spoke to the king of Assyria, saying,
“The nations whom you have carried away into exile in the cities of Samaria do not know the custom of the god of the land; so he has sent lions among them, and behold, they kill them because they do not know the custom of the god of the land.”

At the beginning…they did not fear the Lord.
Therefore, the Lord sent lions among them…lions which killed some of them.

How did they know?
How did they put together that the lions were related to “a god”?

They had understandings of “gods” that we have not.
Understandings that we reject.

They readily accepted that the “god of the land” was displeased.
They readily accepted that they did not know the customs required.

We will see what they did.

For now, fear the Lord.
Fear not man.

“Fear Not! He Made the Iron Float”

December 21, 2020

“Fear Not! He Made the Iron Float”

Blessings folk!

Fear not when unexpected things occur.
Seek the Lord.
Trust the Lord.

Here is a really interesting account…

2 Ki 6:1-7

Now the sons of the prophets said to Elisha,
“Behold now, the place before you where we are living is too limited for us.

“Please let us go to the Jordan and each of us take from there a beam, and let us make a place there for ourselves where we may live.” So he said, “Go.”

Then one said, “Please be willing to go with your servants.” And he answered, “I shall go.”

So he went with them; and when they came to the Jordan, they cut down trees.

But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water; and he cried out and said,
“Alas, my master! For it was borrowed.”

Then the man of God said, “Where did it fall?” And when he showed him the place, he cut off a stick and threw it in there, and made the iron float.

He said, “Take it up for yourself.” So he put out his hand and took it.

The sons of the prophets wanted to build some additional accommodation.

Elisha agreed.

While cutting down a tree, one of the son’s borrowed axe head broke off and fell into the water.

A highly valuable tool.

The son of the prophet cried out for the master’s help.

He showed him the place.
Elisha cut a stick and threw it in the water.
He made the iron to float.

Physically impossible.
But, with God, all things are possible.
With God, nothing is impossible.

All of us have things that we need the Lord to “float”.

“Lord, Open Their Eyes…”

December 20, 2020

“Lord, Open Their Eyes…”

Blessings folk!

A quick thought from the life of Elisha.

Elisha was being hunted down.
There were those who wanted him dead.

2 Ki 6:15-16

Now when the attendant of the man of God had risen early and gone out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was circling the city.
And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?”

So he answered,
“Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

An army had encircled the city at night.

Elisha’s servant was distressed.

Elisha told him to fear not.
Why?

Because those who were with them are greater than those with the enemy.

2 Ki 6:17
Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.”
And the LORD opened the servant’s eyes and he saw;
and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

May the Lord open our eyes.
May we know the fullness of those that are with us.

“I Have No Bread…”

December 19, 2020

“I Have No Bread…”

Blessings folk!

What would you do if you were down to your last meal?
The food is all gone…

1Ki 17:7-16
It happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land.

Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying,

“Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there;
behold, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.”

So he arose and went to Zarephath, and when he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks; and he called to her and said,
“Please get me a little water in a jar, that I may drink.”

As she was going to get it, he called to her and said,
“Please bring me a piece of bread in your hand.”

But she said, “As the LORD your God lives, I have no bread, only a handful of flour in the bowl and a little oil in the jar; and behold, I am gathering a few sticks that I may go in and prepare for me and my son, that we may eat it and die.”

Then Elijah said to her,
“Do not fear;
go, do as you have said, but make me a little bread cake from it first and bring it out to me,
and afterward you may make one for yourself and for your son.

“For thus says the LORD God of Israel, ‘The bowl of flour shall not be exhausted, nor shall the jar of oil be empty, until the day that the LORD sends rain on the face of the earth.’”

So she went and did according to the word of Elijah,
and she and he and her household ate for many days.

The bowl of flour was not exhausted nor did the jar of oil become empty, according to the word of the LORD which He spoke through Elijah.

Elijah was hungry…likely desperately so.
The Widow was desperate…she knew that she and her son would now die due to drought-induced famine.

Do not fear.
As improbable as it may sound, give heed to the Word of the Lord.

The Lord will never abandon nor forsake those who are His.

“Do Not Fear the Evil…”

December 18, 2020

“Do Not Fear the Evil…”

Blessings folk!

When an enemy of the people of the Lord came against them, they panicked.
Rather than trusting in the Lord, they demanded a King.

God granted it to them.

Read the following.
Note that God tells them to fear Him, to be faithful.
Note what they are to “fear not”…

 1Sa 12:12-25
“When you saw that Nahash the king of the sons of Ammon came against you, you said to me, ‘No, but a king shall reign over us,’ although the LORD your God was your king.

“Now therefore, here is the king whom you have chosen, whom you have asked for, and behold, the LORD has set a king over you.

“If you will fear the LORD and serve Him, and listen to His voice and not rebel against the [fn]command of the LORD, then both you and also the king who reigns over you will follow the LORD your God.

“If you will not listen to the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the [fn]command of the LORD, then the hand of the LORD will be against you, as it was against your fathers.

“Even now, take your stand and see this great thing which the LORD will do before your eyes.

“Is it not the wheat harvest today? I will call to the LORD, that He may send [fn]thunder and rain. Then you will know and see that your wickedness is great which you have done in the sight of the LORD by asking for yourselves a king.”

So Samuel called to the LORD, and the LORD sent thunder and rain that day; and all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel.

Then all the people said to Samuel, “Pray for your servants to the LORD your God, so that we may not die, for we have added to all our sins this evil by asking for ourselves a king.”

Samuel said to the people, “Do not fear. You have committed all this evil, yet do not turn aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart.

“You must not turn aside, for then you would go after futile things which can not profit or deliver, because they are futile.

“For the LORD will not abandon His people on account of His great name, because the LORD has been pleased to make you a people for Himself.

“Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by ceasing to pray for you; but I will instruct you in the good and right way.

“Only fear the LORD and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you.

“But if you still do wickedly, both you and your king will be swept away.”

They were to only fear the Lord.
They were not to fear the evil they had committed.

They were to:
Fear the Lord
Not fear the previous evil they had done
Not turn aside from the Lord
Serve Him in truth with all their heart
Consider the great things the Lord had done for them

May we do likewise.

Do Not Fear the Gods of Midian”

December 17, 2020

Do Not Fear the Gods of Midian”

Blessings folk!

Read the following see what Israel had done.
What did it lead to?

Jdg 6:1-10

Then the sons of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the LORD;
and the LORD gave them into the hands of Midian seven years.

The power of Midian prevailed against Israel. Because of Midian the sons of Israel made for themselves the dens which were in the mountains and the caves and the strongholds.

For it was when Israel had sown, that the Midianites would come up with the Amalekites and the sons of the east and go against them.

So they would camp against them and destroy the produce of the earth as far as Gaza,
and leave no sustenance in Israel as well as no sheep, ox, or donkey.

For they would come up with their livestock and their tents, they would come in like locusts for number, both they and their camels were innumerable;
and they came into the land to devastate it.

So Israel was brought very low because of Midian, and the sons of Israel cried to the LORD.

Now it came about when the sons of Israel cried to the LORD on account of Midian,

that the LORD sent a prophet to the sons of Israel, and he said to them,
“Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, ‘It was I who brought you up from Egypt and brought you out from the house of slavery.

‘I delivered you from the hands of the Egyptians and from the hands of all your oppressors, and dispossessed them before you and gave you their land,

and I said to you, “I am the LORD your God; you shall not fear the gods of the Amorites in whose land you live. But you have not obeyed Me.”’”

The sons of Israel had done evil in the sight of the Lord.
Because of this the Lord gave them into the hands of Midian…eventually for seven years.
The Midianites made the life of Israel miserable.
The stole food from them.
They oppressed them.
They destroyed the land.

Israel became very low and cried out to the Lord…in Whose sight they had done evil.

The Lord sends His Word through a prophet.

The prophet reminds them of the deeds of the Lord in the past.
He then tells them to not fear the gods of the Amorites.
That was their arena of disobedience.
They feared the gods of the world rather than the Most High God.

Many professing believers do the same today.
Do not.
Fear not!

“The Lord Will Do To All Your Enemies”

Blessings folk!

Those of us “state-side” are likely to be granted more opportunity in near days to “fear not”.

Nothing new.
Nothing that hasn’t happened before.
It is just that we know now.
We see, if we choose to.
Fear not.

Give heed to these exhortations from the Lord to Joshua…

Jos 8:1
Now the LORD said to Joshua,
“Do not fear or be dismayed.
Take all the people of war with you and arise, go up to Ai;
see, I have given into your hand the king of Ai, his people, his city, and his land.

 Jos 10:8
The LORD said to Joshua,
“Do not fear them, for I have given them into your hands;
not one of them shall stand before you.”

We likewise should not fear or be dismayed.
The Lord is with us.
The Lord goes before us.
Arise!
Fight!
None shall stand before us.

Joshua then says to the people…

 Jos 10:25
Joshua then said to them,
“Do not fear or be dismayed!
Be strong and courageous,
for thus the LORD will do to all your enemies with whom you fight.”

What a promise!
Fear not!
Be courageous.
Again, be strong, be courageous.
The Lord will do as He desires to our enemies!

“The Lord Is the One”

December 15, 2020

“The Lord Is the One”

Blessings folk!

Fear not Saints of the Most High God.

Do not succumb to the spirit of the age.

Heed the Word of Moses to Joshua in the sight people as they prepare to enter the promised land.

Deu 31:7-8

Then Moses called to Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel,
“Be strong and courageous, for you shall go with this people into the land which the LORD has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall give it to them as an inheritance.

“The LORD is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you.
He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

How much so for Believers!
We have the Lord dwelling within us!

Determine to do this…
Be strong
Be courageous

Know this…
He is the One
He goes before you
He is with you
He will not fail you
He will not forsake you

Therefore…
Do not fear
Do not be dismayed

God Is Fighting For You”

December 14, 2020

God Is Fighting For You”

Blessings folk!

The Lord instructed, commanded, exhorted His people to not fear.
Not fear the obstacles.
Not fear the people.
Not fear the circumstance.

Read…

Deu 1:29
“Then I said to you, ‘Do not be shocked, nor fear them.

 Deu 3:2
“But the LORD said to me,
‘Do not fear him, for I have delivered him and all his people and his land into your hand;
and you shall do to him just as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.'

 Deu 3:22
‘Do not fear them,
for the LORD your God is the one fighting for you.'

“But”, we say, “fear is ‘natural’. It comes upon me”.

Yes, in the flesh fear will rule and reign.

But we are fearless in the Lord.

We need not fear anything because the Lord is with us and is fighting for us.

Knowing this, and yet still embracing fear, is a form of idolatry.

Rejoice in this.

The Lord is fighting for you.

Do not fight/resist Him.

“Possess Without Fear”

December 13, 2020

“Possess Without Fear”

Blessings folk!

Moses was speaking the “second giving of the Law” (that is what the word “Deuteronomy” means) to the surviving generation prior to their entering the promised land.

Read some of his exhortation…

Deu 1:19-21

“Then we set out from Horeb, and went through all that great and terrible wilderness which you saw on the way to the hill country of the Amorites, just as the LORD our God had commanded us; and we came to Kadesh-barnea.

“I said to you,
‘You have come to the hill country of the Amorites which the LORD our God is about to give us.

‘See, the LORD your God has placed the land before you;
go up, take possession, as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has spoken to you.
Do not fear or be dismayed.’

People!
Do not fear what the Lord has set before you.
Do not fear what He is leading you to possess.
Do not be dismayed.

The Lord has given each of us a “land”.
He has given each of us a “possession”.
Possess without fear.

“Do Not Fear Them”

December 12, 2020

“Do Not Fear Them”

Blessings folk!

Here is a direct Word from the Lord which I believe applies to Believers today.

Num 14:9
“Only do not rebel against the LORD;
and do not fear the people of the land, for they will be our prey.
Their protection has been removed from them, and the LORD is with us; do not fear them.”

The Lord was telling them what to do as they took the land.

We should do likewise.

Do not rebel against the Lord.
Do not fear the people of the land
Know that their protection has been removed from them…that is interesting.
Who was protecting?
How were they removed?
Know that the Lord is with us.
Do not fear them.

People!
Do not fear the people of the world.
Do not “buy in” to their strategies and beliefs.

Learn truth.

“God Is Testing You"

December 11, 2020

“God Is Testing You"

Blessings folk!

What a great promise!

The Lord is fighting for us!

Therefore, do not fear!

The first part of Exodus 20 is the Lord speaking what we call “the Ten Commandments” to the people.

Read what happened next…

Exo 20:18-21

All the people perceived the thunder and the lightning flashes and the sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood at a distance.

Then they said to Moses,
“Speak to us yourself and we will listen; but let not God speak to us, or we will die.”

Moses said to the people,
“Do not be afraid;
for God has come in order to test you,
and in order that the fear of Him may remain with you,
so that you may not sin.”

So the people stood at a distance,
while Moses approached the thick cloud where God was.

The people were afraid…terrified…trembling at the voice of the Lord.

They told Moses to speak to them…to tell them the Word of the Lord…rather than God.
They feared they would die.

Moses tells them to be not afraid.
The Lord had come in order to test them.
The Lord had in order that the fear of Him would remain in them.
So that they would not sin.

I believe such is occurring today.

The events of the day are revealing who fears the Lord and who fears man.

If we can not “handle” the small events of the day, what will we do when more serious things arise in the future?

This is but a time of training.
A time of “testing”.
A time of revealing.
A time of cleansing, purging.
A time of revealing the true.
A time of revealing the false.

If you are a true believer, fear not.

If you are not a believer, today is the day of salvation.
Repent of sin.
Confess that Jesus is Lord.
You will be born again.
Empowered to live by faith rather than fear.

If you profess to be a believer, yet are consumed with fear, go before the Lord.
Seek Him.
See what He says to you.

Fear not!

“Fear Not! The Lord Will Fight For You”

Blessings folk!

Believers!

Even in the worse of situations - fear not!
Bad times come - fear not!

Remember what happened to the children of Israel in Egypt.

They were free, led by Moses, headed to the Promise Land.

Then Pharaoh changed his mind and decided to pursue and recapture them.

Exo 14:10-14

As Pharaoh drew near, the sons of Israel looked, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them, and they became very frightened; so the sons of Israel cried out to the LORD.

Then they said to Moses,
“Is it because there were no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you dealt with us in this way, bringing us out of Egypt?

“Is this not the word that we spoke to you in Egypt, saying,
‘Leave us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’?
For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.”

But Moses said to the people,
“Do not fear!
Stand by and see the salvation of the LORD which He will accomplish for you today;
for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again forever.

“The LORD will fight for you while you keep silent.”

The people were frightened.
They cried out to God.
There was nothing they could do.

So, they decided to complain against their leadership.
Nothing changes, lol.

Moses told them “do not fear!”
He told them to “stand by and see the salvation of the Lord”.
They would never see the Egyptians again.
The Lord would fight for them.

Know this.
The Lord fights for us.
Fear not.

“Do Not Fear. I AM With You”

December 9, 2020

“Do Not Fear. I AM With You”

Blessings folk!

Isaac had moved from place to place seeking a land that had the room he needed.

He dug wells along the way.
Several.

Then, this happened…

Gen 26:23-25

Then he went up from there to Beersheba.

The LORD appeared to him the same night and said,
“I am the God of your father Abraham;
Do not fear, for I am with you.
I will bless you, and multiply your descendants,
For the sake of My servant Abraham.”

So he built an altar there and called upon the name of the LORD, and pitched his tent there; and there Isaac’s servants dug a well.

The Lord appeared to Isaac at night.
The Lord confirmed His Promise to Abraham…through Isaac.

Note what God said.
How did He say it?

The Lord told Isaac Who He was - the God of his father Abraham.

Then, the Lord told him “do not fear”.
Why?
Because “I AM with you”.

Then, the Lord reiterated the Promise to Isaac…
I will bless you.
I will multiply your descendants, for the sake of My servant Abraham.

Isaac’s response.
He built an altar there.
He called upon the name of the Lord.
He pitched his tent there.
He dug a well.

Remember, this is “the Isaac” that Abraham was about to sacrifice.

The Lord now tells Him to “fear not”.

“What Troubles You?"

“What Troubles You?"

Blessings folk!

Fear not!

Think on this portion of the story of Hagar.

Hagar was the hand-maiden of Sarai given to Abram to raise up a son for them…and to fulfill the promise of the Lord…so they thought.

It was actually “man” seeking to fulfill the promise of the Lord in the flesh.
That never works.

Hagar bore Ishmael.
Many years later (15-16 or so) they are sent away.

We pick up the story….

Gen 21:15-18

When the water in the skin was gone, she put the child under one of the bushes.

Then she went and sat down opposite him a good way off, about the distance of a bowshot, for she said, “Let me not look on the death of the child.”
And as she sat opposite him, she lifted up her voice and wept.

And God heard the voice of the boy,
and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, “What troubles you, Hagar? Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the boy where he is.

Up! Lift up the boy, and hold him fast with your hand, for I will make him into a great nation.”

Their resources were gone.
Hagar knew that all that was left in the natural was death.
She did not want to see her son die.

But, God heard.
He heard Hagar.
He heard the voice of the boy.

What did the angel say?
“What troubles you, Hagar?”

What a question!
She had been kicked out of the community.
She was in the desert alone with her son.
She expected to die.

The angel then told her to fear not.

Even when resources are totally gone…
Even in the face of death…
Even when all hope is gone…

Fear not.
The Lord would lift the boy up.
The Lord would make the boy a great nation.
He did.

He will.

“I AM Your Shield”

December 7, 2020

“I AM Your Shield”

Blessings folk!

The Lord knows the strategies of the evil one.

Remember this.

We are not abandoned.
We are not forsaken.
We, as True Believers, have the victory.

Why then, do we submit to the most basic strategy of the evil one - fear?

The Lord knows the temptation.

That is the reason that He repeatedly tells us in His Word to not fear.

This bears repeating.
This bears remembrance.
Fear not.

Think and meditate upon the Word of the Lord…to Abram and to us.

Gen 15:1
After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision:
“Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.”

“After these things”…they are interesting…read the earlier chapters sometime.

Fear was coming against Abram.

The Lord tells him to fear not.

Why?
How?

The Lord was Abram’s shield.
The Lord is our shield.

The Lord would reward Abram greatly.
The Lord will reward us.

We are shielded by the Lord.

Choose to fear not.

“Troubled”

December 6, 2020

“Troubled”

Blessings folk!

They experienced fear:
Zechariah
Mary
Joseph - multiple time
Shepherds

The angel told them to fear not.

Such is the Word to us today.
Fear not.

Definitely do not walk in the “fear” exhibited here…

Mat 2:1-6

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king,
behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem,

saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews?
For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him;

and assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people,
he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.

They told him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it is written by the prophet:

“‘And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,
are by no means least among the rulers of Judah;
for from you shall come a ruler
who will shepherd my people Israel.’”

Herod was told that a new king of the Jews was born.
The magi sought the new king.

How did Herod respond?
He was “troubled”…”stirred”.

This “trouble” led to deception, lies, trickery and ultimately the murder of innocent young boys.

Herod was afraid of losing his throne, his power, his prestige.

Such fear leads to evil.

“Afraid To Go There…”

Blessings folk!

Mary.
Joseph.
Zechariah.
Shepherds.

All experienced fear.
The word of the Lord through His messenger angel was “fear not”.

Stand strong in the Lord against fear.
Know this.
Fear will seek to come again.

It happened with Joseph when he, Mary and Jesus were in Egypt…

Mat 2:19-23

But when Herod died, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,

saying, “Rise, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel,
for those who sought the child’s life are dead.”

And he rose and took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel.

But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in place of his father Herod,
he was afraid to go there, and being warned in a dream he withdrew to the district of Galilee.

And he went and lived in a city called Nazareth,
so that what was spoken by the prophets might be fulfilled, that he would be called a Nazarene.

The angel of the Lord told Joseph to arise, leave Egypt and go the land of Israel.
He did.

They were headed to Judea, but upon hearing that Archelaus was reigning, fear came upon Joseph.

Joseph was then warned of God.
He was instructed to go to Galilee.
He did.
They went to Nazareth, Galilee.

The fear had been a forewarning.

Joseph did as commanded.

May we do likewise.

“Troubled. Fear Fell.”

December 4, 2020

“Troubled. Fear Fell.”

Blessings folk!

Mary experienced fear.
So did the shepherds.
As did Joseph.

The angel told them all to “fear not”.

Read what happened to Zechariah before John and Jesus were conceived…

 Luk 1:5-17

In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah, of the division of Abijah. And he had a wife from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.

And they were both righteous before God,
walking blamelessly in all the commandments and statutes of the Lord.

But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and both were advanced in years.

Now while he was serving as priest before God when his division was on duty,

according to the custom of the priesthood,
he was chosen by lot to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense.

And the whole multitude of the people were praying outside at the hour of incense.

And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord
standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

And Zechariah was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him.

But the angel said to him,
“Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard,
and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.

And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth,

for he will be great before the Lord. And he must not drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb.

And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God,

and he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah,
to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.”

Notice that Zechariah was “troubled” when the angel appeared to him.
We all would be.
He was in a very secluded place.
The only human.

After being “troubled”, then fear fell on him!
Interesting.

The angel exhorted Zechariah as he did with the others - “do not be afraid”.

Receive this exhortation.

Whenever fear comes upon you - declare “do not be afraid”.

Rest in the Lord.
Trust in the Lord.

“Joseph: Do Not Fear…”

December 3, 2020

“Joseph: Do Not Fear…”

Blessings folk!

Mary was “fearful” upon the news from the angel.
The angel said to fear not.

The shepherds were fearful when an angel from the Lord appeared to them.
The angel said to fear not.

Are you walking/living in fear?
Fear not.
Fear/anxiety is not to be the pattern of life of the true believer.

Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus, encountered fear.
Can you imagine?
His betrothed bride Mary had been gone six months visiting her relative Elizabeth.
Mary now returns home six months pregnant.
I would have like to have heard that conversation.
“Don’t worry dear. The child is of God”.

Yeah…

Mat 1:18-25

Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way.
When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph,
before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.

And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame,
resolved to divorce her quietly.

But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife,
for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus,
for he will save his people from their sins.”

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:

“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).

When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him:
he took his wife,

but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.

Joseph, just and kind, was fearful of taking Mary as his wife.

An angel appeared to Joseph in a dream and told him to fear not.

That which Joseph feared was actually fulfillment of prophecy.

Think on that.

Not fear.
Fulfilling.

Could it be that what we are allowing to manifest as fear is really God fulfilling His Word and purpose in our lives?

Determine beforehand.
Fear or faith?
Failure or fulfillment?

“Fear Not! Good News!”

December 2, 2020

“Fear Not! Good News!”

Blessings folk!

Fear is a tactic and strategy of the evil one.

It has been from the beginning in the garden when he asked “indeed, has God said…?”

Gen 3:1
Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman,
“Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?”

Planting doubt.
Planting fear.

We saw yesterday that the angel told Mary to fear not.

Others in the birth narrative were told the same…

Luk 2:8-10

And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field,
keeping watch over their flock by night.

And an angel of the Lord appeared to them,
and the glory of the Lord shone around them,
and they were filled with great fear.

And the angel said to them,
“Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.

The shepherds were going about their job. (Who they were/might have been is interesting&hellipWinking
They were watching the flock.
When, suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared to them.
When, suddenly, the glory of the Lord shone around them.

Surprise and fear would be the natural response!

The angel told them to fear not.

Why?

Because the angel brought good news.
Good news of great joy for all people.

Good News=Gospel.

We as true believers are bearers of this Good News.
The Good News literally dwells within us.

Therefore, we are empowered to live the Good News and resist/reject the fear that comes against us.

Reject the fear of the flesh.
Reject the manipulation of evil.

“Do Not Be Afraid…”

December 1, 2020

“Do Not Be Afraid…”

Blessings folk!

The Body of Christ is being overtly attacked.

The weapon?
Fear!

Fear and anxiety is consuming many who profess to be Believers.

This is nothing new.
The Lord warned us repeatedly.
Hundreds of times in the Word we are told to “fear not”, “fret not”, "be not anxious”, etc.

Fear is a major strategy of darkness.
Do not succumb to it.

Think for a moment.

Do you think Mary was fearful?

Luk 1:26-38

Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth,

to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the descendants of David;
and the virgin’s name was Mary.

And coming in, he said to her, “Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.”

But she was very perplexed at this statement,
and kept pondering what kind of salutation this was.

The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God.

“And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus.

“He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High;
and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David;

and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.”

Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?”

The angel answered and said to her,
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you;
and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.

“And behold, even your relative Elizabeth has also conceived a son in her old age;
and she who was called barren is now in her sixth month.

“For nothing will be impossible with God.”

And Mary said,
“Behold, the bond-slave of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word.”
And the angel departed from her.

The angel told Mary to not be afraid of the moment.
The perplexity of the moment.
The pondering occurring in her mind.

Be not afraid.

She then questioned.
He answered.

Then, the great declaration…”for nothing will be impossible with God”.

Still, there was a moment of decision for Mary.

She hesitated not.
“…may it be done to me according to your word”.

May all be done according to the Word of the Lord in our lives.

Fear not
