“Unbelief”

Blessings folk!

The people who listened to Jesus were astounded by what He said.
The things said.
The wisdom.
The miracles performed by His hands.

Their reaction?
They questioned.
Was this not the carpenter?
Was this not Mary’s son?
Was this not the brother of James, Joses, Judah, Simon?
Were His sisters still not living among them?

Their response to all this?
They took offense at Him.

Wow.

Yet we do the same.
Day in.
Day out.

We take offense.
We are offended by that which we do not understand…that which we do not like…that which we fear.

Jesus knew their reaction.

Watch what He does…

Mar 6:4-6
Jesus said to them,
“A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and among his own relatives and in his own household.”

And He could do no miracle there except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.

And He wondered at their unbelief. And He was going around the villages teaching.

Jesus confronted their offense.
Jesus wondered at their unbelief.

Jesus tells them forthrightly the issue.

They took offense rather than walking in faith and belief.

The reason?
A prophet is honored…except in his hometown, among relatives, in his own household.

They would not believe.

The outcome?

Jesus could do no miracle there except healing a few sick people.

Our lack of faith…
Our unbelief…
Our lack of honor…of God and one another…
Will quench the move of God.

Most believers live “quenched”.
Such should not be.
We are to have life.
Abundant life.

We are to be the very Presence of the power of the Most High.
Quenched people can not live so.
Spirit-filled people dying to self can.

“They Took Offense…”

Blessings folk!

After healing Jairus’ daughter Jesus departs…

Mar 6:1-3

Jesus went out from there and came into His hometown; and His disciples followed Him.

When the Sabbath came, He began to teach in the synagogue;
and the many listeners were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get these things, and what is this wisdom given to Him, and such miracles as these performed by His hands?

“Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? Are not His sisters here with us?” And they took offense at Him.

Jesus went to His hometown accompanied by His disciples.

On the Sabbath, as was His habit, Jesus went to the synagogue.
He taught.

The people were astounded.
They knew Jesus.
They knew He was not “educated” in the traditional way of man.
They knew His family.
Some of His family was still with them.

Yet, they wondered at His wisdom.
They wondered as to where He “got these things”.
They wondered at the miracles that He performed by His hands.

They acknowledged all this.
The great things.
The wisdom.
The miracles.

Their reaction to Him?

They took offense!

The same is today.
We have a choice.
Either we receive and rejoice in faith and belief.
Or, we take offense at Him

We can not “pick and choose”.
We receive all.
Or, we reject all.

Where are you?

“12 Years To Life…”

“12 Years To Life…”

Blessings folk!

The synagogue official had just received the news.
His daughter had died.
He was consumed with fear.
How do I know?
Because of what Jesus told him…

Mar 5:36
But Jesus, overhearing what was being spoken, said to the synagogue official,
“Do not be afraid any longer, only believe.”

Only believe!

Only believe what?
That she was dead?
That she would live?
???

Only believe the Lord!

Mar 5:35-43

While He was still speaking, they came from the house of the synagogue official, saying,
“Your daughter has died; why trouble the Teacher anymore?”

But Jesus, overhearing what was being spoken, said to the synagogue official,
“Do not be afraid any longer, only believe.”

And He allowed no one to accompany Him,
except Peter and James and John the brother of James.

They came to the house of the synagogue official;
and He saw a commotion, and people loudly weeping and wailing.

And entering in, He said to them,
“Why make a commotion and weep? The child has not died, but is asleep.”

They began laughing at Him. But putting them all out, He took along the child’s father and mother and His own companions, and entered the room where the child was.

Taking the child by the hand, He said to her, “Talitha kum!”
(which translated means, “Little girl, I say to you, get up!&rdquoWinking.

Immediately the girl got up and began to walk, for she was twelve years old.
And immediately they were completely astounded.

And He gave them strict orders that no one should know about this,
and He said that something should be given her to eat.

Jesus allowed no one to accompany Him except the father, Peter, James and John.
Jesus allowed no one in the room, putting out all the mourners and naysayers.

Why?

There is no room for doubt.
There is no room for lack of faith.
There is no room for cynical belittling.

Notice…
Jesus took her by the hand…the father had wanted Jesus to touch her and heal her, yet it seems that Lord did not “do it that way”.
Jesus spoke life into her - Talith kum!
The “taking by the hand” provided support, guidance.
The Word healed!

Her response?
She got yup immediately.
She walked.

The response of the folk?
Astounded.

Jesus then gave them strict orders that no one should know.
Why?
His time had not yet come…whatever that means! Happy

Of course, it was ignored.
The people knew she was dead.
The people now knew she was alive.
Those in the room might have honored the instruction.
Those outside would not.
Word would spread.

The girl was twelve years old.
She was about to enter into adulthood - her future.
Jesus gave her life.

The woman had had the issue of blood twelve years.
She was about to enter into glory - her future.
Jesus gave her life.

Fear not.
Believe.

“Believe…”

Blessings folk!

Remember, Jesus was on His way to heal Jairus’ daughter.

On the way, He had the encounter with the woman that was healed by touching His cloak.

As He is speaking to the woman, the “plot thickens”…

Mar 5:35
While He was still speaking, they came from the house of the synagogue official, saying,
“Your daughter has died; why trouble the Teacher anymore?”

Can you imagine?
It was too late.
The girl had died.
Had Jesus been too slow?
Had the woman delayed Him?
Was it too late as those from the official’s house thought?
They suggested to cease “troubling” Jesus.

What did Jesus say?

Mar 5:36
But Jesus, overhearing what was being spoken, said to the synagogue official,
“Do not be afraid any longer, only believe.”

Jesus told the official to fear not.
In the face of death, fear not.
In the face of fear, fear not.
In the face of failure, fear not.

What was the “antidote” to fear?
Believe!

The official had believed before.
He had faith to know that Jesus could heal his daughter by a touch.
He had requested such.
That was the reason they were on their way.

Jesus was telling the official to keep believing, regardless of report or circumstance.

So should we.

Believe!
Trust in the Lord…regardless…

“Your Faith Has Made You Well”

Blessings folk!

I have added several folk to our group here.
Let me know if you do not want to be included…will remove immediately.

Now…

A woman had reached out and touched the cloak of Jesus.
She did not touch His body.
Just the garment.
She had said to herself that she would be healed if she could do so.

Mar 5:28
For she thought, “If I just touch His garments, I will get well.”

She was healed.
She felt the physical result instantly.

What did Jesus do?

Mar 5:30
Immediately Jesus, perceiving in Himself that the power proceeding from Him had gone forth, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My garments?”

He knew that power/virtue had proceeded from Him.
He did not initiate it.
The woman did.
But, Jesus knew.

He did not know who had touched Him in that way.
Many were pressing in/touching Him.

Mar 5:24
And He went off with him; and a large crowd was following Him and pressing in on Him.

Now, read the balance of the account…

Mar 5:31-34
And His disciples said to Him,
“You see the crowd pressing in on You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’”

And He looked around to see the woman who had done this.

But the woman fearing and trembling, aware of what had happened to her,
came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth.

And He said to her,
“Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace and be healed of your affliction.”

The disciples responded…really Jesus?
Everyone is pressing in on You.

Jesus saw the woman.
He knew.

He gave her opportunity that He gives us everyday.
A chance to acknowledge.
A chance to confess.

The woman was fearful.
Trembling.
She was aware and amazed at what had happened to her.
She was healed.

Her response?

She came to Jesus.
She fell down before Him…the position of worship, submission, adoration…
She told Him the whole truth.

We should do likewise.

Jesus’ response?
Your faith had made you well.
Go in peace.
Be healed of your affliction.

He will do the same today.

“If I Just Touch…”

July 26, 2017

“If I Just Touch…”

Blessings folk!

Yesterday I mentioned that the woman hemorrhaging thought that if she could just touch Jesus’ garments that she would be healed.

How do I know?

The next verse tells us. Happy

Read and watch what happens…reactions.

Mar 5:25-30

A woman who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years,

and had endured much at the hands of many physicians,
and had spent all that she had and was not helped at all, but rather had grown worse—

after hearing about Jesus, she came up in the crowd behind Him and touched His cloak.

For she thought, “If I just touch His garments, I will get well.”

Immediately the flow of her blood was dried up;
and she felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction.

Immediately Jesus, perceiving in Himself that the power proceeding from Him had gone forth, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My garments?”

Her faith was well placed.

What was her reaction?

Note the repeated word “Immediately”.
Immediately she was healed.
The flow of blood was dried up.
She felt it.
She felt in her body…physically…that the affliction was healed.

Jesus’ reaction?
Immediately He perceived that power had proceeded from Him.
The Authorized Version states it this way…

Mar 5:30
And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him,
turned him about in the press,…

Jesus knew within Himself that “virtue” had gone from Him.
The Greek word used here for “power/virtue” is “dynamis”.
It refers to…”inherent power, power residing in a thing by virtue of its nature, or which a person or thing exerts and puts forth” (Strong’s)

The woman accessed the very power of God that was/is inherent within Jesus.

She believed, by faith.
She received and was healed by the power of God.

Jesus did not know she was doing this until it occurred.

He then inquired as to who touched His garments.

Many had touched Him.
Many were touching Him.
But only one had “touched’ Him in faith to receive what they needed.

Think on that.

That is the status of much of the professing Body of Christ today.

Many “touch” Him…superficially, on the periphery, by religious actions, etc.
Few “touch” Him in faith.

Which are you?

“Hearing…She Came Up Behind Him…”

Blessings folk!

Jesus is on His way to heal Jairus’ daughter.
People are pressing in on Jesus…touching Him.

Then…

Mar 5:25-27
A woman who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years,

and had endured much at the hands of many physicians,
and had spent all that she had and was not helped at all, but rather had grown worse—

after hearing about Jesus, she came up in the crowd behind Him and touched His cloak.

The woman touched His cloak.
She had suffered for twelve years.
She had endured much at the hands of physicians.
She had spent all her resources.
Nothing worked.
She grew worse.

Why did she approach Jesus by stealth and touched His cloak?
What did she expect?
Why did she expect it?

She expected to be healed.
She did not want the Lord to even know.

What initiated this move by the woman?

She heard about Jesus.

Again, she heard about Jesus.

All He had done.
She heard.

People need to hear what the Lord has done.
People need to hear what the Lord is doing.
People need to hear what the Lord will do.

One must speak for people to hear…

Rom 10:14
But how can they call on Him they have not believed in?
And how can they believe without hearing about Him?
And how can they hear without a preacher?

Speak of Jesus.
The people must hear.

“He Went Off…”

July 24, 2017

“He Went Off…”

Blessings folk!

Jesus is walking with Jairus.
He is on His way to heal Jairus’ daughter.
Jairus requested Jesus to touch her.

Mar 5:22-23
One of the synagogue officials named Jairus came up, and on seeing Him, fell at His feet

and implored Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death;
please come and lay Your hands on her, so that she will get well and live.”

So Jesus goes with him.

The crowd is intense.
They followed Jesus.
They are pressing in on Jesus.

Mar 5:24
And He went off with him; and a large crowd was following Him and pressing in on Him.

What happens next?

Mar 5:25-27
A woman who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years,

and had endured much at the hands of many physicians,
and had spent all that she had and was not helped at all, but rather had grown worse—

after hearing about Jesus, she came up in the crowd behind Him and touched His cloak.

Ah!
Most of us are familiar with this story.
We will look at it closer later.

For today, think on this.

These things that Jesus did…the “miracles”…occurred in the course of life.

Jesus comes to the shore and is approached by a man filled with demons.
He sets him free.

Jesus comes to the other shore and is approached by a synagogue official who request healing.
Jesus is going to heal…to touch…at the request of Jairus. (Jairus had faith for “a touch&rdquoWinking

Yet, while He is going, others are watching, following, seeking, reaching out…literally.

We as Believers are the very vessel of the Most High God.
Let us not miss the many that we encounter daily.

“Jairus Fell At His Feet”

Blessings folk!

Jesus left.
The people had requested Him to leave.
He did.
More on this at a later time…

He reaches the other side of the lake…

Mar 5:21-24

When Jesus had crossed over again in the boat to the other side, a large crowd gathered around Him; and so He stayed by the seashore.

One of the synagogue officials named Jairus came up, and on seeing Him, fell at His feet

and implored Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death; please come and lay Your hands on her, so that she will get well and live.”

And He went off with him; and a large crowd was following Him and pressing in on Him.

A large crowd gathered, therefore Jesus stayed by the seashore.

Suddenly someone appears.
Jairus, a synagogue official.

This was a bold move by Jairus.
This was a desperate move.
You saw what he did.
He came to Jesus.
He saw Jesus.
He fell at the feet of Jesus…the position of worship, of submission, of humility.
He implored Jesus!

This is the third “implore” that we have seen in Mark.
The people implored Jesus to leave.
The man freed from demons implored Jesus to accompany him.

No the synagogue official.
What did he want?
Healing!

His little daughter was at the point of death.
He asked Jesus com come and lay hands on her so that she would get well and live.
He had faith that Jesus could heal by laying on hands.
Others would have faith that Jesus could heal/deliver by speaking the Word.
Regardless…
The request was a declaration of faith in the Lord.
A radical, bold, desperate move of a synagogue official.
A solution to a father.

Jesus left with him to go to the girl.

The crowd followed.
The crowd pressed in.
More was about to happen.

But, for today…for us.
Where are the “officials” that bow before the Lord?
Where is the desperation to seek only the Lord?

The body of Christ is being grievously harmed..

  • by “leaders” who refuse to bow to Jesus
  • charlatans who “mail in the ministry”
  • frauds who bring the word of man (often “downloaded&rdquoWinking rather than the Word of the Lord.

They will be judged.

We need more Jairus’s…desperately seeking the Lord.
Imploring…

“He Went…”

Blessings folk!

The man set free from demons wanted to accompany Jesus.
Jesus forbade him.
Rather, Jesus told him to…
  • go home to your people.
  • report to them the great things the Lord has done for you.
  • report to them how the Lord had mercy upon you.

What did the man do?
Express disappointment?
Refuse and followed Jesus always?

Read…

Mar 5:18-20
As He was getting into the boat,
the man who had been demon-possessed was imploring Him that he might accompany Him.

And He did not let him, but He *said to him, “Go home to your people and report to them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He had mercy on you.”

And he went away and began to proclaim in Decapolis what great things Jesus had done for him; and everyone was amazed.

Imagine.
He did what Jesus told him to do.
He went to his people.
He proclaimed in Decapolis (a ten-city region) what (every) great thing Jesus had done for him.

Again, a bold proclamation of what the Lord had done for him personally.
A personal story.

The response of the people who heard?
They were amazed.

Oh that we would do likewise.
Tell of the things the Lord has done.
Tell of the things the Lord is doing.
Tell of the things yet to come.

“Go Home To Your People”

July 21, 2017

“Go Home To Your People”

Blessings folk!

The man that had been set free of demons now wanted to go with Jesus.
Understandable.
He implored Jesus.
He desired to be with Jesus.

What was the Lord’s response?

Mar 5:18-20
As He was getting into the boat,
the man who had been demon-possessed was imploring Him that he might accompany Him.

And He did not let him, but He said to him, “Go home to your people and report to them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He had mercy on you.”

And he went away and began to proclaim in Decapolis what great things Jesus had done for him; and everyone was amazed.

Surprisingly, at least in our expectation, Jesus did not allow the man to accompany Him.

Why?

Jesus had a larger view and calling for the man.

Jesus told him to…

  • go home to your people
  • report to your people the great things the Lord has done for you
  • report to your people the mercy that the Lord had on you

This is the heart of “evangelism”.

Too often we seek to “share the gospel” in a manner that comes across as a “amway” presentation.

We quote verses.
We go through precise strategies and presentations.
We ask hypothetical questions that speak more to the soulish than to the Spirit.
We then seek to get folk to repeat some magical mantra whereby we will declare them to be “saved”.

We do not see such in the Scripture.

What we see are moments like this.

Jesus told him to go and tell what the Lord had done for him.

It is that simple.
The most powerful thing you can tell someone is what the Lord has done for you, what He is doing, and what He will do.

Now, do not hear me wrong.
Tools are good.
Plans and strategies are useful.
But, when we depend upon such rather than the testimony of a changed heart and the power of God…then we err.

I remember years ago I was training for an evangelism program that was in vogue at the time. My “trainer”, a good personal friend and leader in the local body, and I were discussing such. I was realizing that most people were giving greater heed to the tool than to the Lord.

Then, I noticed this.

We were training folk to communicate and share something - the true gospel - which they themselves had not experienced.

Oh, they were religious.
They were faithful.
They had said all the “right” things.
And yet, the power of God was not with them.

Let us not make the same error.

Tell what the Lord has done for you.
Start at home.
Start with your people.

If you find yourself silent, then repent, confess and be saved.

“Accompany…?”

Blessings folk!

The people implored Jesus to leave.

They had heard what He permitted…the demons to enter the swine.
They has seen what He did…set the man full of demons free!
They has seen the man…seated at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind.

Still, fear trumped faith and they begged Jesus to leave.

Do not judge quickly.

We do the same thing.

We reject the move of the Lord that will set the captive free.
We implore the Lord to leave in many ways.

Yet, there was one who implored…but to another purpose…

Mar 5:17-18
And they began to implore Him to leave their region.

As He was getting into the boat,
the man who had been demon-possessed was imploring Him that he might accompany Him.

Note that Jesus was leaving.
The people had asked Him to leave, so He did.
Whoa!
Think on that…

But, the man whose life was forever changed implored Him that he might accompany Him.

He wanted to be with Jesus.
He knew what had happened.
He knew he had been given a new life.
He feared not.
He walked in faith.

“Leave!”

July 19, 2017

“Leave!”

Blessings folk!

The man was free!
The demons were gone!
The man was “legionless”!
The man was clothed.
The man was seated at the feet of Jesus.
The man was in his right mind.

All rejoiced…or did they?

What was the reaction of folk?

Two fold.
First, they were frightened…we saw that yesterday.

Mar 5:15
They came to Jesus and observed the man who had been demon-possessed sitting down, clothed and in his right mind, the very man who had had the “legion”;
and they became frightened.

Then…

Mar 5:16-17
Those who had seen it described to them how it had happened to the demon-possessed man, and all about the swine.

And they began to implore Him to leave their region.

They heard the first hand account.
They then implored…begged…Jesus to leave them.
To leave the region.

One would think that they would want Jesus to remain…
…to set others free.
…to speak of the Kingdom.
…to heal.

Yet, their fear drove them to ask the Lord to leave.

The same occurs today.

We “ask the Lord to leave” in much of what we do.
Watch.
Pay attention
Discern.

The Lord is desiring to do so much in/and through us, yet we reject Him.
We rebuff Him.
We go our own way…all the while asking Him “to do something.”

Still, there was one…later…

“In His Right Mind”

Blessings folk!

The people from the cities and surrounding country came to see what had happened.

Some herdsmen reported demonic swine.

What was that about?

The people hurried to see the swine washing ashore.

Little did they expect to see…

Mar 5:14-15

Their herdsmen ran away and reported it in the city and in the country.
And the people came to see what it was that had happened.

They came to Jesus and observed the man who had been demon-possessed sitting down, clothed and in his right mind, the very man who had had the “legion”;
and they became frightened.

They expected to see some “deviled-ham”.
Instead they saw…

  • a man filled with “legion” set free
  • a man who had been demon-possessed sitting down at the feet of Jesus
  • a man who was naked, now clothed.
  • a man “out of his mind”, now in his right mind

The reaction of the people?
Did they rejoice?
Did they give God glory?

No.

They were frightened.
This is somewhat understandable.
They did not understand.

We will see later what they did next.

For today.
Do you believe?
Do you understand?
Do you know that the Lord desires to use Believers to set the captive free…to clothe…to set people to their “right mind”?

“Send Us…”

July 17, 2017

“Send Us…”

Blessings folk!

The demons were imploring Jesus to not sent them out of the country.
They feared that He was about to sent them into the eternal abyss.
The demons offered a plan…now that is interesting…
These demons knew Jesus.
Remember, they were with Jesus before/with Father before they sided with Lucifer in rebellion.
The demons requested to be sent into a large herd of swine.

This tells us some things.

Jesus and His companions were in Gentile country…Jews would have had nothing to do with swine.
Demons prefer to have an organic being in which to dwell.
Humans are the first choice.
But, a pig will do.

Watch what happens…

Mar 5:11-14
Now there was a large herd of swine feeding nearby on the mountain.

The demons implored Him, saying, “Send us into the swine so that we may enter them.”

Jesus gave them permission.
And coming out, the unclean spirits entered the swine;
and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea, about two thousand of them;
and they were drowned in the sea.

Their herdsmen ran away and reported it in the city and in the country.
And the people came to see what it was that had happened.

Jesus granted permission, thereby sending them into the swine.

The reaction of the swine?
“Sooo-ey-cide” has often been stated.
The herd of swine rushed into the sea.
They did not hesitate.
This example of “deviled-ham” (I know! But you will remember&hellipWinking shows the impact/reaction of demonic possession.
The swing chose drowning in the sea to rid themselves of demons.
Where did the demons go?
Out of the pigs.
Yes.
Into the “dry places”?
Perhaps.

Luk 11:24
When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest;
and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out.

Into something else?
Likely.

The reaction of the people?
The herdsmen ran away.
Understandable.
The herdsmen reported in the city and country that which had occurred.
The people came to see.
To see dead swine washing onshore.

And to see something else…which we will see tomorrow.

For today, the Lord desires to set the captive free.
The Lord is still the answer for demonic possession.

Interesting.

They are named.

Mar 5:8-10
For He had been saying to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!”

And He was asking him, “What is your name?”
And he said to Him, “My name is Legion; for we are many.”

And he began to implore Him earnestly not to send them out of the country.

There was a lead demon.
A “strong-man”.
He called himself Legion - because they were many.

Immediately after stating his name, the demon implored the Lord to not sent them out of the country.
Hum….wonder why.

The demon(s) knew that they would have to leave.
The time had come.
Yet, they do not want to leave that country.

They were consumed with fear.
They knew Who Jesus was.
They knew who they were.
They had already revealed they were frightened that their time had come.

They were asking Jesus for mercy.

What would He do?

The many demons were leaving.
The man would be soon free.

So many await the same.

“Come Out…”

July 15, 2017

“Come Out…”

Blessings folk!

The demon bowed before the Lord.
The demon then cried out with a loud voice.

Mar 5:6-7
Seeing Jesus from a distance, he ran up and bowed down before Him;

and shouting with a loud voice, he said,
“What business do we have with each other, Jesus, Son of the Most High God?
I implore You by God, do not torment me!”

Why?
Why bow?
Why cry out?

Yes, the demons knew Who Jesus was…Son of the Most High God.

But, what “set them off”?

The Word tells us…

Mar 5:8
For He had been saying to him, “
Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!”

Jesus had been commanding the spirit to come out.

Something interesting here.

The spirit was resisting.
The spirit was “putting up a fight”.
The spirit demanded to know “why?”, “now?”.

I find great hope here.

Too often, we think that if we command in the name of the Lord it must be done.
True, if we do so in faith as led by the Spirit the Lord will make it so.
Still, we expect instantaneous.
The Lord is more “process”.

Of course, man then wants to systematize the ways of the Lord.

We will see that tomorrow.

For today, do as the Lord leads.
He desires to use us in setting the captive…demonic!…free.
Fear not.
Faith!

“He Bowed Before Him”

July 14, 2017

“He Bowed Before Him”

Blessings folk!

Jesus arrives to the other side of the lake.
He is immediately approached by a man possessed of demons.

We continue…

Mar 5:5-7
Constantly, night and day, he was screaming among the tombs and in the mountains,
and gashing himself with stones.

Seeing Jesus from a distance, he ran up and bowed down before Him;

and shouting with a loud voice, he said, “What business do we have with each other, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God, do not torment me!”

There are important truths to be seen here.

This man was tormented.
Screaming.
Running among the mountains and the tombs.
Gashing…cutting himself.
Such occurs today.

The demons were causing the man to respond this way.
We forget this.
It is not the man.
It is the demon.
When confronted with such, we must possess the love of the Lord for the individual and the power of the Lord to set the captive free…to command the demon to leave.

Again, love the person.
Deliver them from evil.

The man, empowered/led by the demons, ran to Jesus and bowed before Him
Not attack Him.
Not confront Him in the flesh.
Bowed.
Then, shouted with a loud voice.

The demons did not want to do this.
But, they knew Jesus.
They had been with Him in heaven.
Think on that.
Demons have been with the Lord Jesus before the Most High God!
They know!

They bowed before Him because they must.
They then demanded to know what business they had with Jesus at that time.
They acknowledged Jesus as the Son of the Most High God.
They requested to not be tormented.

They know that torment is coming.
They did not know if that time had arrived…it had not.
They know Who Jesus is.
Do we?

“An Unclean Spirit Met Him”

July 13, 2017

“An Unclean Spirit Met Him”

Blessings folk!

Who is this that even the winds and waves obey Him?

Think on that.

What we call “nature” obeyed the voice of the Lord?

We know much, but experience little, of the power of God.

By His voice…change!
His voice created.
His voice instructs/commands.

We can only imagine the impact upon the men with Jesus.

They were is awe.
They were in fear.
First, fear of the storm…afraid.
Second, fear of He Who calmed the storm…very much afraid.

Read what happens next…

Mar 5:1-4

They came to the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gerasenes.

When He got out of the boat,
immediately a man from the tombs with an unclean spirit met Him,

and he had his dwelling among the tombs.
And no one was able to bind him anymore, even with a chain;

because he had often been bound with shackles and chains, and the chains had been torn apart by him and the shackles broken in pieces, and no one was strong enough to subdue him.

This is the beginning of an intense encounter.
Let’s look at it slowly.

Jesus arrives to the other side of the lake.
Immediately He is confronted.
He is confronted by a man with an “unclean spirit” - a demon.
People in the days of Jesus readily acknowledged the demonic.
Such is not so today - to our detriment.
Demons are real.
They exist.
They are the reason for many things that happen.
We, in our “enlightened, cultured, western society”, choose to not believe.
We are blind.

This was a serious, dangerous situation.
The man could not be subdued.
He had been chained - broken.
He had been shackled - broken.
He now lived in and among the tombs.

No one was strong enough to subdue him.

Now, this man boldly and immediately comes to Jesus…wait until you see all that happens.

For today.
Do you believe?
Do you understand that our battle is not against flesh and blood?

Eph 6:12
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

“Who Then Is This…?”

July 12, 2017

“Who Then Is This…?”

Blessings folk!

“Who then is this…?”
That is the question.

Jesus was speaking in parables.
He was teaching.

Remember, in Mark 4:1 Jesus had used a boat as a platform.
Apparently He was still in the boat.

Watch what happens next…

Mar 4:35-41

On that day, when evening came, He said to them, “Let us go over to the other side.”

Leaving the crowd, they took Him along with them in the boat, just as He was;
and other boats were with Him.

And there arose a fierce gale of wind,
and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up.

Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion;
and they woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”

And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.”
And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm.

And He said to them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

They became very much afraid and said to one another,
“Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”

At the end of the day, at evening, the Lord requested that they go to the other side - the other side of the lake.

So, they took Him along in the boat, “just as He was…”, an interesting phrase that arrested my attention this morning. It simply means that He/they went that moment. He was already in the boat. He was prepared. He was not encumbered with the things of the world. Jesus was ready in season/out of season for what Father told Him to do.

So should we be.

You read/know the story.

As they went a fierce storm arose.

The source of the storm?
We are not told.
Perhaps just the natural hydrological cycle of a rebellious, judged creation…
Perhaps an attack by the evil one…he does such… see Job.
Perhaps sent by Father for His glory…

Jesus’ reaction to the storm?
Sleep.
Peace.
Questioned the men as to why they were afraid…where was their faith.

The men in the boat(s) reaction?
Fear.
Panic.
Lack of faith…did they even know that faith played a role in such a situation? Do we know?
Accusation - “…do You not care that we are perishing?”

Jesus’ response?
“Hush, be still”
Peace, be still.

The men’s response?
Fear.
Wonder of Who Jesus was.
Awe.

The men feared the situation and circumstance.
The Lord calls for faith in all situations, not fear.

We are not to fear.
We are to live by/in faith.

Who then is this?
The Creator.
The Savior.
The Most High God.
The source of Faith.

July 11, 2017

“Parables: Able to Hear…”

Blessings folk!

Parables!

Why did Jesus speak in parables?

We see more…

Mar 4:33-34
With many such parables He was speaking the word to them, so far as they were able to hear it;

and He did not speak to them without a parable;
but He was explaining everything privately to His own disciples.

Remember, He spoke in parables…many of them

Mar 4:10-12
As soon as He was alone, His followers, along with the twelve,
began asking Him about the parables.

And He was saying to them,
“To you has been given the mystery of the kingdom of God,
but those who are outside get everything in parables,

so that WHILE SEEING, THEY MAY SEE AND NOT PERCEIVE,
AND WHILE HEARING, THEY MAY HEAR AND NOT UNDERSTAND,
OTHERWISE THEY MIGHT RETURN AND BE FORGIVEN.”

“So far as they were able to hear it”?
As far as the faith they had.
If they did not believe, they would not understand.
They would not hear.

Jesus explained the details to His own disciples privately.
Yes, including Judas.

It was given to the disciples to understand the mystery of the Kingdom of God.
If they believed.

Of course, there would be those who “faked” belief - Judas.

Believe.
Receive.
Know the mysteries of the Kingdom of God.

“Mustard Seed - Kingdom”

July 9, 2017

“Mustard Seed - Kingdom”

Blessings folk!

Jesus continues speaking of the Kingdom.

Mar 4:30-32

And He said, “
How shall we picture the kingdom of God, or by what parable shall we present it?

 Mar 4:31
It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the soil,
though it is smaller than all the seeds that are upon the soil
,

 Mar 4:32
yet when it is sown, it grows up and becomes larger than all the garden plants and forms large branches; so that THE BIRDS OF THE AIR can NEST UNDER ITS SHADE.

Another parable picture of the Kingdom.
It starts small…even extremely small as pictured by the mustard seed.
Yet, the Kingdom grows.
It grows large.
It grows to the point that its it larger than garden plants.
It has branches.
Birds find safety.

Such is the Kingdom.
Is the Kingdom growing in you?
Are you sowing the Kingdom?
Or, are you sowing the tares of man?

“Kingdom…Seed”

July 8, 2017

“Kingdom…Seed”

Blessings folk!

Jesus spoke much about the Kingdom.
The Kingdom is what Jesus taught…preached.

Mar 4:26-29

And He was saying, “The kingdom of God is like a man who casts seed upon the soil;

and he goes to bed at night and gets up by day, and the seed sprouts and grows—
how, he himself does not know.

“The soil produces crops by itself;
first the blade, then the head, then the mature grain in the head.

“But when the crop permits, he immediately puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”

Another “seed/soil” parable.

The Kingdom of God is like…
Jesus said this many times.
Not an exact comparison, but truths of the Kingdom were to be seen in the examples.

What do we see?

The Kingdom grows in the same way a seed grows.
It is sown.
It sprouts.
It grows.
Yet, man knows not how.

To this day, man does not have a full understanding of what causes a seed to sprout and grow.
So is the Kingdom.

The Kingdom has process.
The seed.
The sowing.
The soil.
The blade…sprouting.
The head.
The grain in the head…fruit.

Then, at the proper moment in time, the harvest.

So is the Kingdom.

“Ears to Hear”

July 7, 2017

“Ears to Hear”

Blessings folk!

Jesus kept reiterating a Truth.
He called folk to listen.
Listen carefully.
Be careful to what you listen to.
He who has ears to hear (that is interesting&hellipWinking, let him hear…

He stated such after giving the parable of the sower/seed/soils…

Mar 4:9
And He was saying, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

He then stated the same after speaking of the “lamp under the bushel”…

Mar 4:23
“If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.”

Jesus then said this…

Mar 4:24-25
And He was saying to them,
“Take care what you listen to.
By your standard of measure it will be measured to you;
and more will be given you besides.

“For whoever has, to him more shall be given;
and whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him.”

Some serious things here.

We are to take care to what we listen.

Whoever has…whoever has the Kingdom…the things of God…more shall be given.
Whoever does not have…rejects the Kingdom…the things of God..what he has shall be taken from him.

Jesus expands upon this in other portions of the Word…parable of the talents in Matt. 25, Matt. 13, Luke 8, Luke 19.

Are we listening to the things of the Kingdom?
Or, are we listening to the things of the world?

If you have ears to hear, hear!

“…Come to Light”

Blessings folk!

As soon as Jesus finished telling/explaining the parable of the seed/sower/soil, He spoke to them in another “parable like” statement…

Mar 4:21-23

And He was saying to them,
“A lamp is not brought to be put under a basket, is it, or under a bed?
Is it not brought to be put on the lampstand?

“For nothing is hidden, except to be revealed;
nor has anything been secret, but that it would come to light.

“If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.”

Jesus is the Light of the world…

John 8:12
Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying,
“I am the Light of the world;
he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness,
but will have the Light of life.”

 John 9:5
“While I am in the world, I am the Light of the world.”

Jesus will reveal all that is hidden.
Nothing will be secret.
All will come to light.
All will come to The Light.

A day is coming when all will be revealed and understood.
A day is coming when all will confess…

Phl 2:11
and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

We are not to be hidden lights in the midst of darkness.
We are to shine.
We are to illuminate darkness.
We are to reveal the secrets.

“Soils”

July 5, 2017

“Soils”

Blessings folk!

Allow another look at the parable of the sower/seed/soil.

It will do us well to read Matthew’s account…

Mat 13:1-9

That day Jesus went out of the house and was sitting by the sea.

And large crowds gathered to Him, so He got into a boat and sat down,
and the whole crowd was standing on the beach.

And He spoke many things to them in parables, saying, “Behold, the sower went out to sow;

and as he sowed, some seeds fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate them up.

“Others fell on the rocky places, where they did not have much soil;
and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of soil.

“But when the sun had risen, they were scorched;
and because they had no root, they withered away.

“Others fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked them out.

“And others fell on the good soil and yielded a crop,
some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty.

“He who has ears, let him hear.”

Then, Jesus’ explanation…

Mat 13:18-23

“Hear then the parable of the sower.

“When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it,
the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart.
This is the one on whom seed was sown beside the road.

“The one on whom seed was sown on the rocky places,
this is the man who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy;

yet he has no firm root in himself, but is only temporary,
and when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he falls away.

“And the one on whom seed was sown among the thorns,
this is the man who hears the word,
and the worry of the world and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word,
and it becomes unfruitful.

“And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil,
this is the man who hears the word and understands it;
who indeed bears fruit and brings forth,
some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty.”

Again…
One sower.
One seed.
Four soils.

Are you good soil?

“Four Soils…”

Blessings folk!

Jesus now explains the parable of the sower/seed/soil…

Mar 4:13-20

And He said to them,
“Do you not understand this parable?
How will you understand all the parables?

“The sower sows the word.

“These are the ones who are beside the road where the word is sown; and when they hear, immediately Satan comes and takes away the word which has been sown in them.

“In a similar way these are the ones on whom seed was sown on the rocky places,
who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with joy;

and they have no firm root in themselves, but are only temporary;
then, when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, immediately they fall away.

“And others are the ones on whom seed was sown among the thorns;
these are the ones who have heard the word,

but the worries of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches,
and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

“And those are the ones on whom seed was sown on the good soil;
and they hear the word and accept it and bear fruit, thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold.”

One Sower.
One Seed.
Four soils.

1. Beside the road…hard soil - Satan comes and takes away the word sown in them.
2. Rocky places - hear the word, receive the word in joy, yet no firm root, only temporary.
Upon affliction and persecution because of the word, they fall away.
3. Among thorns - heard the word, but the worries of the world, deceitfulness of riches, desires for things enter in and choke the word. Unfruitful.
4. Good soil - hear the word, accept the word, bear fruit from the word 30, 60, 100 fold.

There is only one good soil.
The rest are “false professions”…false belief.
All four are represented in the organizational “church”.
Only the good soil is the true Body of Christ.
The rest are tares.
I believe that this might reveal that 75% of those who profess to be “religious” etc. do not have true faith unto salvation.

The question is simple.
Do you?

Unless you…

  • hear the word
  • accept the word
  • bear fruit of the word
…then all else is false.

Fruit is evidence of true salvation.

Examine yourself to see if you be of the faith.

“How Will You Understand…”

Blessings folk!

Quick thought for the day…on the road. Happy

We have just read the “parable of the sower”.

Jesus spoke in parables so that…

Mark 4:11-12

…those who are outside get everything in parables,

so that WHILE SEEING, THEY MAY SEE AND NOT PERCEIVE, AND WHILE HEARING, THEY MAY HEAR AND NOT UNDERSTAND, OTHERWISE THEY MIGHT RETURN AND BE FORGIVEN.”

Jesus knew that His disciples did not understand.
He questioned them.

Mar 4:13

And He said to them, “Do you not understand this parable?
How will you understand all the parables?

He acknowledged before them that He knew they did not understand.
Then, “how will you understand all the parables?”

A couple of things.

The parables were to be understood by those who believed.
Understanding was expected.

Apparently, this parable of the sower/seed/soil is a foundational parable to gain skill in interpreting and understanding parables.

We will see why shortly.

Meanwhile, do you believe?
Do you understand?

“Error”

July 2, 2017

“Error”

Blessings folk!

A little side-thought for today.

Much of what people believe to be true is in error.

Some is insignificant.
Much is important.

Today is an example.
Not a big deal, but the actual day of the official vote of the Second Continental Congress for separation of the Colonies from Britain occurred on July 2, 1776.

Read what John Adams wrote to his wife the next day…

The Second Day of July 1776, will be the most memorable Epocha, in the History of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.

Here is a more detailed explanation…yes, I know it is the Washington Post, but this article is correct. Happy

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/answer-sheet/wp/2017/07/02/why-john-adams-saw-july-2-as-americas-true-independence-day/?utm_term=.2ded54b1098f

Much of what we have been taught about history is not true.
Do the research.
You will be amazed.

This is nothing new.

A serious example is found in the Word…

Mat 22:29

But Jesus answered and said to them,
“You are mistaken, not understanding the Scriptures nor the power of God.

The Sadducees had sought to entrap Jesus with a hypothetical question.
This was Jesus’ response.

They were wrong.
They were wrong in two ways.
They did not understand the Scriptures.
They knew the Scriptures…they spent huge portions of the day and of their lives “knowing” the Scriptures. Yet, they were in error. They did not understand.

One can know and yet not understand.

Then, they did not now the power of God.

I believe this is a succinct synopsis of the state of the western church.
We do not understand the Scriptures.
We do not understand the power of God.

Most do not know the Scriptures.
Most have never experienced the power of God.

The date of a celebrating of a declaration?
No big deal.

The Scripture and the power of God?
Big deal!

Know the Word.
Manifest the power of God.

“Parables”

July 1, 2017

“Parables”

Blessings folk!

Why did Jesus speak in parables?

His followers (disciples: “learners”…some “learned” and stayed, some “learned” and left) wanted to know why Jesus spoke in parables.
The Twelve wanted to know.

Jesus told them why…

Mar 4:10-12

As soon as He was alone,
His followers, along with the twelve,
began asking Him about the parables.

And He was saying to them,
To you has been given the mystery of the kingdom of God,
but those who are outside get everything in parables
,

so that WHILE SEEING, THEY MAY SEE AND NOT PERCEIVE, AND WHILE HEARING, THEY MAY HEAR AND NOT UNDERSTAND, OTHERWISE THEY MIGHT RETURN AND BE FORGIVEN.

The Kingdom of God.
A Mystery!

It was given to those who listened and believed.

Those who listened and did not believe?
They were/are “outside”.
Outside of faith.
Outside of belief.
Outside the Kingdom.

Jesus then quotes Scripture…

Isaiah 6:9-10
9 And he said, “Go, and say to this people:
“‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand;
keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’
10 Make the heart of this people dull, and their ears heavy, and blind their eyes;
lest they see with their eyes,
and hear with their ears,
and understand with their hearts,
and turn and be healed.”

There are many other Scriptures that speak of the people not hearing, listening, understanding, etc.

What is the point?

Those who believed/would believe would have understanding of the parables and the Truth of the Lord.

Those who did not believe/would not believe would continue.
They would see but not perceive.
They would hear yet not understand.

Remember, Jesus only spoke what Father told Him to speak.
Jesus only did what Father told Him to do.
John 17 gives much insight.

Listen to the Words of Jesus…His teachings…His parables.

Believe.
