“Rosh Hashanah”

Blessings Folk!!

As I have mentioned in the past, I give close attention, thought and meditation to occurrences this time of year.

Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown.

Rosh Hashanah is one of the three fall feasts of the Lord given to the nation of Israel.

I am convinced that servants of the Most High God would do well to give careful heed to these times.

Here is the short version.

The Lord gave Israel seven feasts whereby to celebrate Him.
The first four feasts were fulfilled when the Lord came as Savior.
The last three feast have yet to be fulfilled and will be fulfilled when the Lord returns as Victor.

The three fall feasts consist of:

Rosh Hashanah - means “the head of the year”...the beginning of the new year...it is a day of blowing of trumpets...hummm…

Lev 23:24-25
24 "Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, 'In the seventh month on the first of the month you shall have a rest, a reminder by blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation.
25 'You shall not do any laborious work, but you shall present an offering by fire to the Lord .'"
NASU

Num 29:1
29 'Now in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall also have a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work. It will be to you a day for blowing trumpets.
NASU

Yom Kippor - day of atonement

Lev 23:27-28
27 "On exactly the tenth day of this seventh month is the day of atonement; it shall be a holy convocation for you, and you shall humble your souls and present an offering by fire to the Lord .
28 "You shall not do any work on this same day, for it is a day of atonement, to make atonement on your behalf before the Lord your God.

NASU

Sukkot (Feast of Booths, Feast of Tabernacles)

Lev 23:41-43
41 'You shall thus celebrate it as a feast to the Lord for seven days in the year. It shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations; you shall celebrate it in the seventh month.
42 'You shall live in booths for seven days; all the native-born in Israel shall 1live in booths,
43 so that your generations may know that I had the sons of Israel live in booths when I brought them out from the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.'"

NASU

Between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippor is a 10-day period referred to by Judaism as “the days of awe”. This period is a time of repentance.

What does this have to do with the believer in the Lord Jesus Christ?

I think there are significant insights as to the return of the Lord that can be gleaned from understanding the Word and the feasts. As the Lord completely and without exception fulfilled every element of the the Spring feasts...Passover, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits, Pentecost...He will do likewise with the Fall feasts.

We need to pay close attention this time of the year.

No, I’m not saying the Lord is returning this fall. My background is strongly influenced by the “doctrine of imminency”...this states that the “Lord can return at any moment.”

Sorry folk. This is simply incorrect.

Even a cursory reading of the Word reveals this. Read for yourself. Begin with Daniel...especially chapter 9...then Matthew 24-25...then 1 Thessalonians...then 2 Thessalonians...that will be enough. This is nothing by which the Body of Christ should separate, but, knowing the Truth will be of utmost importance today and in the days to come.

Of course, you will have to set aside your preconceived understandings...what you “know.”
Of course, you must call upon the Spirit to teach you.

You will be amazed at what God reveals.

Let me know if you have any questions. I do not have all the answers...but, I know Who does.

So, let us rejoice.

It is a new year.

New birth is occurring...a dear friend of ours has “4 virgin daughters” as he likes to say...one is in labor at this moment (fear not! she is married...hehehe&hellipWinking A Rosh Hashanah babe.

Our daughter is due tomorrow…months ago when she told us about the baby, the thought immediately went through my mind “that is Rosh Hashanah”...I checked the calendar...it was/is (the date of Rosh Hashanah changes yearly on our calendar...1st day of the seventh month according to the Word)...perhaps another Rosh Hashanah babe...hummm…”no laborious work” on that day...wonder if that includes “labor”?

Know this. In this time of darkness and despair new life is breaking forth among the children of God...in the physical and in the spiritual.

So...

Rejoice in the Lord and live life abundantly.

2 Cor 3:5-6
5 Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God,
6 who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

NASU

Live in awe of what the Lord has done, what He is doing and days yet to come!

A little housekeeping here...more and more of us are on social networking sites such as facebook. I’m using it more and more...can see the day quickly coming when email will be the antiquated form of communication. Therefore, consider setting up a free Facebook account and become my friend… http://www.facebook.com/dalealanmoore
I believe this will be a much better form of communique!

“...by strength shall no man prevail.”

Blessings Folk!!

There is no doubt that we are in trouble as a nation.
There is no doubt that we are in trouble as a society.

There is no doubt as to the solution.

The solution is not in man.

In preparing for the study of 1 Samuel beginning in October, I encountered the following verse…

1 Sam 2:9
9 He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.
KJV

The Lord will keep the feet of His saints. He will guard, guide and protect.
The Lord will deal with the wicked.

By strength shall no man prevail.

Again, the strength of man will not prevail.

Only by the Lord God will solutions be found.

Many within the authentic Body of Christ know this, yet they still seek the ways of man.

Many simply do not see what is going on.

I’m amazed at how many will argue over how to spend the 50+% of resources stolen and confiscated from them...all the while never questioning the thieves.

The thoughts and discussions of most of the Body of Christ reflect the mind of man, the thoughts of man, the wisdom of man.

Rare indeed is the person who speaks what is really needed - the wisdom of God.

Yet, we are to be literally fountains flowing with the wisdom of God.

Why are we not?

Because we think more upon the ways of man.
Because we fear what we see in the natural.
Because we cling to “what we know, what we feel, what we want” rather than truth.
Because we refuse to seek the truth.
Because we are more distracted by being “pumped for church”, “excited about our pastor”, “thrilled by the best church in town,” etc. etc. ad nauseum. (I see so many comments and the like on Facebook, Myspace, etc. We worship what “we do” in the name of God...most of the while refusing to worship in Spirit and Truth. Examine yourself...)

What are we to do?

Another verse from 1 Samuel gives some insight…

1 Sam 2:3
3 Do not boast so proudly, or let arrogant words come out of your mouth, for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and actions are weighed by Him.
(from Holman Christian Standard Bible® Copyright © 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2005 by Holman Bible Publishers.)

Quit boasting in the plans of man. Yes, speak to them. Declare the truth. Call a lie a lie! But, do not boast.

Do no let arrogant words come out of your mouth. Speak the truth in the humility of the Lord.

Know that the Lord is the God of knowledge. He is the only source of knowledge and Truth.

Live and breath the knowledge of the Lord.

Finally, read one of my favorite sentences from the Word...yep...one sentence...give heed to the words…

  • cease not to give thanks
  • make mention of one another in prayer
  • receive wisdom, revelation
  • understanding
  • enlightened
  • hope
  • riches
  • power

Eph 1:15-23
15 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to usward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

KJV
