“I Lay My Hand On My Mouth”

Blessings folk!

The Lord asked a question…

Job 40:1-2

And the LORD said to Job:

“Shall a faultfinder contend with the Almighty?
He who argues with God, let him answer it.”

Job responded…

Job 40:3-5

Then Job answered the LORD and said:

“Behold, I am of small account; what shall I answer you?
I lay my hand on my mouth.

I have spoken once, and I will not answer;
twice, but I will proceed no further.”

Job understood what the Lord was saying through all the questions.
Job acknowledged that He was “of small account”.
Job said “what shall I answer you?”
What could he say?
The Lord was correct.
Job was wrong in questioning the Lord and His motives.

So, what did Job do?

He agreed that he has spoken a couple of times.

Now he says he is placing his hand over his mouth.
He is remaining silent.

Wise move.

May we do likewise.
