“The Double-Minded”

Blessings folk!

What do you fear?
What do you hate?

We know that we are not to fear anything other than the Most High God…
We know that we are not to hate…

Read.
Watch the emotion of the Psalmist.
Watch what he requests.

Psa 119:113-120

Samekh.
I hate those who are double-minded,
But I love Your law.

You are my hiding place and my shield;
I wait for Your word.

Depart from me, evildoers,
That I may observe the commandments of my God.

Sustain me according to Your word, that I may live;
And do not let me be ashamed of my hope.

Uphold me that I may be safe,
That I may have regard for Your statutes continually.

You have rejected all those who wander from Your statutes,
For their deceitfulness is useless.

You have removed all the wicked of the earth like dross;
Therefore I love Your testimonies.

My flesh trembles for fear of You,
And I am afraid of Your judgments.

The Psalmist hated those who are double-minded.
Do we not all?
Especially when we encounter the double-minded in the mirror.
But, the juxtaposition.
I love Your law.

What is double-minded?
Saying one thing, doing another.

Professing belief/faith in God, living in the belief/faith of man.

Again we see the Word of the Lord described…

  • Law
  • Commandments
  • Statutes
  • Testimonies
  • Judgments

The Psalmist hid himself in the Lord.
Where do we “hide”?

The Psalmist declared the Lord to be his shield.
Who do we turn to for protection?

We have seen these truths reiterated in Psalm 119.
They are important.
They are foundational.
Do we live in them?

Believe.
