"Imputed..."

“Imputed…”

Blessings folk!

An interesting thought is introduced to us in today’s portion of our continued passage…

Rom 5:12-13
Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned—

for until the Law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

All have sinned because of the sin of Adam.
Death entered the world due to the sin of Adam/Eve.

Did you note the last phrase?

Until the Law, sin was in the world.
(Remember, the Law was given much later…after Adam/Eve)

But, sin is not imputed when there is no law.

What does this mean?

Imputed means “reckoned to one’s account”, “lay to one’s charge”.

Simply put, prior to the law, sin was in the world.
Death was the result of sin.

But, the Law gave “the rules” related to sin.

Once “the rules” were known, then man was accountable.

…to be continued…
