“The Lord Rebuke You”

Blessings folk!

Yesterday we saw in Jude how the men who “have crept in unnoticed” reject authority (the Most High) and revile the angelic majesties.

The idea is that they speak against things they know not.
They also speak in ways and use things that they do not understand.

We see this in the Body today.

An example.

In certain portions of the Body of Christ it is common to see folk “praying against” and “speaking against” satan in manners that are not biblical.

We must be careful with such.

The next verse in Jude show us how we are to act.

Jude 9
9 But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him a railing judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”

We learn several things in this verse.

When Moses died, there was a dispute over who would have his Body - God or satan.
We do not see this in the Old Testament. The New Testament book of Jude reveals it.

Why would satan want Moses’ body?
Did satan have a rightful claim?

Satan would say that Moses’ body was his due to the sin Moses’ had committed - murder, doubt, rebellion, etc.

God said otherwise.

Why would satan want the body?

Can you imagine all the “holy relics” and false idols that the enemy could produce with each bone?

Then, we see how we are to handle such a dispute.

Michael, the archangel...powerful angel...refused to use the power that he had.
He did not pronounced a railing judgment in his own name and power.
He said, “the Lord rebuke you.”
The name of the Lord.
There is power in the name of the Lord.

There was a dispute.
There was an argument.
There was no railing judgment.
The Lord will judge.
The Lord will rebuke.

Let us do likewise, resting and trusting in the Lord.
