“…To Fulfill All Righteousness”

Blessings folk!

A quick look at Matthew’s account of Jesus’ baptism…

Mat 3:13-15

Then Jesus arrived from Galilee at the Jordan coming to John, to be baptized by him.

But John tried to prevent Him, saying,
“I have need to be baptized by You, and do You come to me?”

But Jesus answering said to him,
“Permit it at this time; for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.”
Then he permitted Him.

Again, John resisted.
He knew Jesus’ life. He knew that he had need to be baptized by Jesus.

Jesus lived a sinless life.
Why would He come to John?
Why would He join the sinners in seeking repentance?

Jesus’ baptism fulfilled all righteousness.
Father desired for Jesus to do so.
That is it.

Therefore, John permitted…allowed…agreed.

Jesus was baptized…then…
