Yesterday we saw the first portion of David’s declaration to Goliath.
Now, read the rest.
1Sa 17:45-47
Then David said to the Philistine,
“You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin,
but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts,
the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted.
“This day the LORD will deliver you up into my hands,
and I will strike you down and remove your head from you.
And I will give the dead bodies of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the sky and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel,
and that all this assembly may know that the LORD does not deliver by sword or by spear;
for the battle is the LORD’S and He will give you into our hands.”
A declaration of faith!
A declaration of fact.
The fact?
He was coming in the name of the Lord of hosts.
David speaks what is about to occur.
This day…!
- The Lord will deliver you into my hands
- I will strike you down
- I will remove your head from you
- I will give the dead bodies of your army of the Philistines…
- To the birds of the sky
- To the wild beasts of the earth
The purpose?
- The earth will know that there is a God in Israel
- All this assembly will know…
- The Lord does not deliver by sword or by spear
- The battle is the Lord’s
- He will give the enemy into our hands
It is not by the might of man.
It is not by the power of man.
It is by the Spirit of the Lord.
Giants are dispatched in the name of the Lord.
The Lord uses those who believe.
Most of what we do as believers are works of the flesh.
Let us change.
Let us do it the Lord’s way.
In the name of the Lord.
By the power of the Lord.
Zec 4:6
Then he said to me,
“This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel saying,
‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says the LORD of hosts.
Allow the Spirit.
Quench not the Spirit.
