“Come”

Blessings folk!

Today’s reading:

Matthew 11:28-30

Jesus, after…
  • speaking of what would occur to the disciples
  • exhorting them to fear not
  • telling them that division would come within households
  • explaining conditions and rewards
  • answering John’s disciples inquiries
  • explaining who John was to the people
  • pronouncing woe over Galilean towns
  • giving thanks to Father
...then makes this profoundly simple statement/invitation.
“Come to me”.

The folk understood what Jesus was saying.

To “come” is more than just a mental assent to truth.
To “come” is not just adding another religious activity to our pantheon of gods.

To “come” is to submit to change and transformation.
To “come” is new life.

Fear not.

The Lord calls the weary.
The Lord calls those who are burdened.
The Lord promises rest.
The Lord is gentle.
The Lord is humble in heart.

He is rest for us.
He is the source of knowledge.

His yoke is easy.
His burden is light.

Live in Him.
