“Turning the Grace of God”

Blessings folk!

We have seen much of what the Word tells us of the grace of God.

Wonderful truths in which we are to live.
Truths that changed…and continue to change…our lives.

Yet, there are those who seek to take this grace and use it in an ungodly manner.
There are those who pervert the grace of God.

Jude wrote of such.
He actually desired to write about our common salvation, yet he felt compelled, by the Spirit, to address this issue.

Jude 1:1-4

Jude, a bond-servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, To those who are the called, beloved in God the Father, and kept for Jesus Christ:

May mercy and peace and love be multiplied to you.

Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints.

For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Note how Jude spoke mercy, peace and love over them…that such would be multiplied.

He then exhorted them to contend earnestly for the faith.
To fight for the truth of the faith.
Why?

Because certain persons had crept in unnoticed.
In where?
Into the true Body of Christ.
These are not true believers.
They are “tares”.
They look the part of a believer.
They act the part.
They are false

How do I know?
God said so.
- marked out for condemnation
- ungodly persons

Look at what they do.
- they turn the grace of God into licentiousness (promiscuous and unprincipled in sexual matters…disregarding accepted rules or conventions,)
- they deny the Lord Jesus Christ

Such are prevalent in the organizational church.
(Remember, the True Body of Christ is an organism…a Body.
The organization of the church is a man-made creation)
Many of these certain persons are in leadership of the organization.

Beware of such.
Speak the truth.
Call them out.
Do not let them harm the Body of Christ.
Contend for the faith.
