"Arrogant…"

“Arrogant…”

Blessings folk!

Psalm 119: 78-80
78 May the arrogant be ashamed, for they subvert me with a lie;
But I shall meditate on Your precepts.
79 May those who fear You turn to me,
Even those who know Your testimonies.
80 May my heart be blameless in Your statutes,
So that I will not be ashamed.

We have seen that the Psalmist was being persecuted/attacked/etc. by the unrighteous/wicked.

Here he calls them “the arrogant” and calls for them to be ashamed.
They had lied about him.
They had sought to subvert him.

But the Psalmist chose to meditate upon the Precepts of the Lord.
In this he is strengthened.

When lied about...turn to the Lord.
Meditate upon Him.

The Psalmist then asks the Lord for something.
He wants those who fear the Lord to turn to him.
He wants those who know God’s testimonies to be with him.

So should we.

Fear not the “shame” that the arrogant liars seek to bring.
Be not ashamed by keeping your heart blameless before the Lord.
