“Kish: A Mighty Man of Valor”
“Kish: A Mighty Man of Valor”
Blessings folk!
Samuel had heard from the Lord.
A king was to be appointed.
Samuel sent all the men to their cities.
The Lord had chosen a king.
The next two chapters tell us how it happened.
For today, read the first few verses.
Note the detail.
Genealogy is important.
Note how Saul is described.
1Sa 9:1-2
Now there was a man of Benjamin whose name was Kish the son of Abiel, the son of Zeror, the son of Becorath, the son of Aphiah, the son of a Benjamite, a mighty man of valor.
He had a son whose name was Saul, a choice and handsome man,
and there was not a more handsome person than he among the sons of Israel;
from his shoulders and up he was taller than any of the people.
Kish was Saul’s father
He was a mighty man of valor.
He was a man of Benjamin.
Saul was Kish’s son.
He was choice.
He was handsome.
There were none more handsome than he in all of Israel.
He was a head taller than all other.
An interesting way to begin an account, no?
We will see the relevance later.
For now, Kish was a mighty man of valor.
Saul was pretty.
