So, do you love God?
Hear what the Lord said.
John 14:21
“He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.”
Judas then asked a great question.
John 14:22
Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, what then has happened that You are going to disclose Yourself to us and not to the world?”
Jesus had been with the disciples privately and with the world publicly.
Now He says that He will disclose Himself to the one who loves Him.
Judas wants to know what had happened.
What has changed?
Why not “to the world”?
Jesus answers…give very close attention…
John 14:23
Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word;
and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.
Jesus does not begin with answering Judas’ “what” question.
Jesus builds upon His previous statement and reveals a “how”.
If we love Him…
If we keep His Word…
Then..
Father will love him…
We…Father and Jesus…will come to him and make Our abode in him.
What did the Lord disclose?
He began to reveal the reality of the life the Believer in the resurrected Christ.
Christ in each True Believer.
God abiding in us.
Life beyond anything they could imagine.
Life beyond what we can imagine.
We live limited lives of fear in the flesh.
The Lord calls us to life abundant via His indwelling.
Quench Him not.
