“Disciples: Divorce?”

“Disciples: Divorce?”

Blessings folk!

To remember an amazing point…

The Lord Jesus verified the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve as true accounts.
He testified to the truth of Creation ex nihilo…from the beginning.
He did so in responding to an attempted entrapment by the religionists.

Nothing changes.

The Pharisees had confronted Jesus publicly.
He responded to them in public.

Then, later…in the privacy of a home…

Mar 10:10-12

In the house the disciples began questioning Him about this again.

And He said to them,
“Whoever divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her;

and if she herself divorces her husband and marries another man, she is committing adultery.”

The disciples sought clarification.
What was the answer to the question put forth by the Pharisees?

Jesus gave them a forthright answer.

“But”, some will say, “what about infidelity?”

Yes…

 Mat 5:32
but I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except for the reason of unchastity, makes her commit adultery; and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

 Mat 19:9
“And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality,
and marries another woman commits adultery.”

Yet, too often…especially among believers…this is treated as a “get out of jail free card.”

Divorce is allowed in the case of immorality.
Divorce is not required.

Love is required.
Grace is required.
Forgiveness is required.

May we give a place to begin again.
