“The Ark is Placed…”

Blessings folk!

Remember, we are looking at the context of the well-known 2 Chron 7:14 verse… “If My people…”

2 Ch 5:7-10
Then the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the LORD to its place,
into the inner sanctuary of the house,
to the holy of holies,
under the wings of the cherubim.

For the cherubim spread their wings over the place of the ark,
so that the cherubim made a covering over the ark and its poles.

The poles were so long that the ends of the poles of the ark could be seen in front of the inner sanctuary, but they could not be seen outside; and they are there to this day.

There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets which Moses put there at Horeb,
where the LORD made a covenant with the sons of Israel, when they came out of Egypt.

The people of the Lord have the ark of the covenant. (They no longer have it…it is “missing”&hellipWinking

They placed it where it belongs…in the Holy of Holies.
The ark was the place of the Presence of God.
It must be properly placed.

Why the “negative” statement of the last verse?
There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets of Moses…

The new testament book of Hebrews gives some understanding…

Heb 9:3-4
Behind the second curtain was a second section called the Most Holy Place,

having the golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold,
in which was a golden urn holding the manna,
and Aaron’s staff that budded,
and the tablets of the covenant.

The Ark had once contained…

  • A golden urn with some manna
  • Aaron’s staff that budded
  • Tablets of the covenant.

Now it just had the tablets.

No explanation is given.
The wording does leave us with the impression that “something was missing” or “something else use to be there”.

Still, the Ark is in place.
